Team 8

Team 8 featured a talented combination of guards, including some of the top point guards and shooting guards in the class. Several players displayed impressive shooting ability, while others stood out with their defensive intensity, athleticism, and ability to attack the basket. The team had a strong collection of skills, with players making an impact in several different ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='1273442' first='Brianna' last='Nolan'] was one of the floor generals in the building, showcasing an elite offensive skill set and a true point-guard mentality. Her court vision was very good, as she delivered pinpoint passes to cutters and found open teammates even when facing double-teams. Nolan looked comfortable operating in the pick-and-roll and made the right read from the point position. Her midrange game was smooth and as effective as any in the building. She attacked the basket, but when defenders cut off the drive, she demonstrated an advanced pull-up jumper in the midrange area. The crafty guard created off the dribble, navigated through the defense, and confidently stepped into perimeter shots. Nolan played like a floor general who could control the offense, create for her teammates, or take over as a scorer. Nolan was very good as a freshman, and the growth from then to now is very noticeable.

[player_tooltip player_id='1320453' first='Ellie' last='Perez'] made her biggest impact with hustle and defensive awareness. She anticipated passes, created steals, and converted turnovers into scoring opportunities. She also showed good speed, ran the floor well, and competed throughout the showcase. Perez made some really good defensive plays, including a steal and a coast-to-coast finish at the rim. She was also good at advancing the ball and finding the open teammates. She can score, defend, and pass- a glue-and-workhorse player who helped her team through teamwork and hustle plays all over the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='738515' first='Kylee' last='Trent'] can shoot the ball as well as anyone in her class. Her pull-up game is elite, and she is equally effective shooting off the catch. Her quickness allows her to attack the defense, get to the rim, and score from all areas of the court. Trent is a major talent who makes difficult plays look easy. Defensively, Trent used that quickness, anticipation, and basketball IQ to apply pressure both on and off the ball. She turned several steals into coast-to-coast layups. She was really impressive matching up with elite point guards and then turning around and matching up against shooting guards and wing players, demonstrating her versatility. Burns pressed up aggressively on defense, stole the ball, and produced one of her best offensive plays by going coast-to-coast, spinning through the lane, and finishing with a left-handed reverse layup. Burns played well and was one of the top playmakers in the building.

[player_tooltip player_id='1675989' first='Lily' last='Pierce'] showed good basketball IQ on the court. She shot the ball well from the perimeter, particularly from behind the three-point line. Murphy also contributed with her size, rebounding, and interior defense. She played physical help-side defense, blocked out well, and consistently competed on the glass. Murphy also ran the floor and finished effectively around the basket. Offensively, Murphy knows how to put the ball in the basket. She can drive, score off of rebounds, and turn them into soft jumpers in the paint. Her athleticism combined with her ability to defend, rebound, and contribute offensively from all over the court speaks to impact the game in all areas of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1814043' first='Mackenzie' last='Hebert'] showed a few flashes on the court. The young guard's game is still developing, but there were some good things I saw. Hebert communicates with teammates and understands the game. She had a nice switch on the pick-and-roll and wasn't afraid to cover a player twice her size. She saw an opening to the rim and flashed a quick first step to the rim going left. Hebert's game has to catch up to her determination on the floor. She received good instructions on the floor and wasn't afraid to run up and down the court with some of the best young players in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1574294' first='Jate' last='Hicks'] quietly impacted both ends of the floor with her quickness, athleticism, and defensive intensity. The young guard repeatedly penetrated the defense, reached the heart of the paint, and earned numerous trips to the free-throw line. Hicks also displayed a nice shooting touch by knocking down smooth pull-up jumpers from midrange. She consistently found her way to the rim, scoring with creativity and purpose. Defensively, she was a menace, applying serious defensive pressure that led to transition baskets. Hicks emerged as one of the top sleepers and stock risers of the showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='1219836' first='Natasha' last='Durand McClain'] was an absolute menace on the ball throughout the showcase. Although she was one of the smallest players on the court, the tough and relentless guard consistently pressured opposing ball handlers and made it difficult for even elite players to get to the rim. She stayed low in her defensive stance, pressed up aggressively, and refused to quit on possessions. Durand McClain proved that size does not determine impact—she is a baller, a fierce competitor, and a serious defensive problem for opposing guards. Her stock will certainly rise after her performance at the showcase.
