5th Region Players to have Breakout Seasons

These are players we believe are poised to take a big jump from last season. Whether it's increased scoring, a bigger defensive presence, rebounding, creating opportunities for teammates or simply taking on a much larger role, each of these players has the ability to make a significant impact this season.    After graduating two players who are now playing college basketball, Asia will be counted on to take a major step forward in both offensive production and leadership. She brings athleticism, toughness and something to prove in her senior season. Charles can score, defend and rebound, giving her the ability to impact the game in multiple ways. With more responsibility coming her way, we expect her to become one of the key players her team leans on throughout the season.     Nanalee gained valuable varsity experience last season that should pay major dividends this year. She brings strength and versatility to the court every night and has the physicality to create problems for opposing teams. She has the strength to attack smaller guards inside while also possessing the ability to blow by slower defenders on the perimeter. We expect a significant jump in both her scoring and rebounding production, while her overall confidence and decision making should continue to grow.     EHS enters a transition year after losing significant talent along with its head coach. We fully expect Kaedynn to emerge as one of the leaders of this team and take on a much bigger role. She will be asked to make a lot happen on both ends of the floor, both for herself and her teammates. She is athletic, skilled and competitive, with the ability to impact the game in several different ways. She may be a player you don't know much about right now, but expect that to change quickly once the season gets rolling.     The back to back Region Champions are preseason favorites to make another run, and this long, skilled guard is a big reason why. We expect Jaylee's role to increase significantly this season, and she has the skill and extremely high basketball IQ to take full advantage of that opportunity. Her length creates problems defensively, while her ability to make plays with the ball in her hands gives her another dimension offensively. She is surrounded by a talented team, but don't be surprised if Vernon takes a major step forward individually. The 5th Region better be ready for her.     Molly was proving herself as an elite player last season before an injury ended her year. Now healthy and cleared to return, she is poised for a huge season. She brings size, skill and athleticism that make her an extremely difficult matchup every night. She can impact the game inside, attack defenders and make plays in multiple areas of the floor. Her Green County Dragons are loaded with experience and talent and should be a major force in the 5th Region. A healthy [player_tooltip player_id='1092906' first='Molly' last='Dixon'] could be a major addition to an already dangerous team.     This Campbellsville post player had the opportunity to compete against some of the best players in the country throughout the spring and summer on the EYBL Circuit. She was a double-double machine and gained tremendous experience going against elite competition. That experience should translate directly to her high school season. We expect a significant jump in her second season, particularly in her scoring numbers, while her rebounding and interior presence should remain major strengths. Headspeth and guard [player_tooltip player_id='982092' first='Karsyn' last='Smith'] could form a fantastic duo to help the Eagles soar this season.     The Lady Cardinals are another team entering a transition period after losing significant talent and their coaching staff. That should create plenty of opportunities for players to step into bigger roles, and we believe Paxtyn will be one of those players. She plays tough, plays hard and brings the type of competitiveness every team needs. She can score in multiple ways while also defending numerous positions, giving her the versatility to fill several needs for her team. Expect Edlin to have the ball in her hands more and become one of the players helping lead the way through this transition.     Ava is expected to make a big impact immediately in her freshman season. She is a versatile small forward who can contribute both on the perimeter and in the post, giving her multiple ways to influence the game. She is an extremely hard worker and has shown the willingness to do the little things that help teams win. Her versatility should allow her to find opportunities early, and she has the potential to become a difference maker, particularly when district play begins. Keep an eye on this freshman as the season progresses.
