Southeast Elite Showcase Fall Ball Session II: Great 2028s

September 2026 will soon be history. This means that only one month – October – remains before the first month where high school girls basketball will be played.    When it is time to suit up for one's high school, those that do so want to ensure that they are in midseason form. Taking time to sharpen one's skills at a showcase event such as the Southeast Elite Fall Showcase Fall Ball Session II will help greatly in that process.    We at Prep Girls Hoops made it out to Ben Lippen School for this past Saturday's festivities. We continue our coverage with a look at impressive standouts from the junior class.     Thomas is another that brings a veteran presence to a 5A Sumter assembling that is looking to ascend back up the Palmetto State's 5A landscape. She is one that may be overlooked by some evaluators because of her 5-foot-1 frame, but Thomas more than makes up for it with plenty of speed and agility when she has the ball in her hands. Opposing teams have to watch out for when she has the ball behind the 3-point line as she is very likely to take – and make – her tries from deep. Thomas also displays her toughness with her willingness to draw contact.     Nesmith previously hooped at Lakewood and is now bringing her talents to 5A Sumter. She understands the art of handle the ball even among a number of defenders and understands how to draw contact to get to the free throw line. One can place Nesmith in a team's starting five at either of the guard spots in the backcourt. Nesmith first played at the high school varsity level when she was a middle schooler, giving her more experience than the average junior. Nesmith in Gamecocks blue and gold could mean positive fortunes for Sumter in coach Brittany Lee's first season at the helm.     When matching up against the Blue Devils of 4A Dreher, one must find a way to keep its interior scoring attack in check. Wooden signifies what Dreher can get accomplished in the interior. Even though last season's Blue Devils assembling had a rough go of things, Wooden was a bright spot for Dreher as she was second on the team in rebounding averaging 6.2 boards per game. She can also be a consistent scoring threat and does not shy away from the opportunity to convert on tough shots. Wooden was also among the Blue Devils' leaders in field goal percentage, blocks and free throw percentage throughout 2025-26.     The team that Price played on this past weekend at Ben Lippen featured mostly names from a pair of 4A CSRA schools in North Augusta and Fox Creek. Price was one of the Predators standouts. She made her presence known by displaying her accuracy from 3-point range and also showcased how much of a multi-level scorer she can be. As a shooter, that accuracy can display itself either from long range or the midrange. Her ability to arrive in from seemingly out of nowhere to make defensive plays is another positive to the skillset of this veteran guard who previously played at Curtis Baptist.     The lone team from Georgia that made the trek across the Savannah River made it worth it thanks to the Warriors' junior standout. With several seniors having graduated from last season's 6A Grovetown assembling, this creates an opportunity for Brinson to step up as the team's on-court leader for the next couple of seasons. She displayed that she is ready for the task. Brinson has the ability to handle the ball with either hand and can take advantage of the attention she attracts from defenses to open things up for her teammates to make plays. Brinson places particular emphasis on passing as well as scoring and approaches the game with a high basketball IQ.
