It was a good day of work for Layla as she led Academy Elite to a 39-17 win over Team Elite Hubbard National. Brinson got into a groove early on as she managed to consistently get to her spots in the mid-range where she found buckets with her jumper. Layla knocked down four pull-ups along with a catch-and-shoot mid-range. Standing around 5-foot-3, Brinson utilizes a high release on her shot. Layla likes to play out of pick-and-rolls. In the win, she finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block. The 2028 guard should start popping up on radars soon.

Brinson thrives in the pick-and-roll, where her ability to deliver quick, accurate passes makes her dangerous. She showed excellent chemistry with rollers, whipping in one-handed passes with precision. Her speed and low center of gravity allow her to get into the paint at will, where she finishes tough shots or creates for others. She also mixed in mid-range pull-ups to keep defenders guessing. On defense, she’s aggressive and disruptive, making opposing ball handlers uncomfortable. A dynamic playmaker with a strong feel for the game.

Brinson rose up Georgia’s Prep Girls Hoops 2028 rankings back in July and her play has been indicative of one who is continuing to improve her stock. Brinson has an understanding of which plays have to be made based on which moment it is in a game and where she is on the court. A team gets plenty of efficient playmaking whenever Brinson is on the court – something that is sure to become more pronounced in her upcoming three seasons of high school basketball. The Warriors of 6A Grovetown will be an assembling to be reckoned with as long as Brinson is wearing its navy blue and red hues.

Brinson is a player you build around. When a team has a great point guard they have the upper hand on teams. High IQ guard that knows when to score and when to distribute. A player that knows how to play with pace and control the offense. Look for Brinson to be one of the top point guards in the state this season.

Brinson was one of the best players in the gym on Sunday. Her ability to score at all 3 levels and her court awareness is what stood out. A player that doesn’t need much space to slash to the basket. When the drive was taken away, she knocked down numerous 3 balls. Shifty handles and speed that allows her separation.

Up from 68: Crafty playmaker who balances scoring and distributing. She gets to the rim with quickness and body control, finishing creatively with scoop layups and floaters. Brinson is a skilled pick-and-roll passer and can also knock down shots when defenders go under. She’s active defensively, reading the floor and jumping passing lanes.
