Under the Radar No More: Breakout Names From the 2027 PGH TN Expo

The one word I can use without a doubt about the talent that came through the 2027 Prep Girls Hoop Expo hosted in Lebanon, TN yesterday. Right from the start, the girls got after it. Starting in 3v3 and then spilling over into the 5v5 setting, competition was at a premium as girls went toe-to-toe against one another. Prospects? Oh yeah, the coaches who were in attendance, along with the scouts, walked away pretty impressed with what they saw. From top to bottom, the young ladies who came out to compete put on a show.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The place was just jumpin'! We saw some vets in the building do their thing, and we saw a lot of newbies on the horizon make their announcement into high school basketball. You could tell that everyone who participated in basketball means something to them. It's valuable. It's precious. They are willing to do whatever it takes to make this sport a tool for their future. It definitely can do that, and it will; yesterday it was on display for all to see.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over the next week, I, along with my colleagues, will be diving into the profiles of the girls who attended this expo. I'm on the way to kick butt and take names. This kid was scorching the bottom of the net as she couldn't miss from the field. Talk about being on a burner; she was on one for sure. Suiting up for Community this upcoming season, you better believe she will be the focal point for this ballclub. A double-digit scoring threat for sure, she is going to make a name for herself in multiple ways. Loved the way she would manipulate her defenders by making them play on the back of their heels. She was stellar in taking the shots she got and played solid defensively. This kid is solid, and she can definitely be a spark at a moment's notice. This kid is a bucket and has such a smooth jumper from deep. Yes, she has handles to complement her scoring ability, but her ability to create her own shot off the dribble is pretty darn good. She used her body to establish herself on the block and finish. Had great moves to finish over either shoulder, a nice jumper from the basket, and was big-time on the boards. Sure, her size made her stand out, but her ability around the rim and on the block was pretty impressive too. She scored inside multiple times, but what stood out was her ability to rebound and defend. Her length posed a threat, making it tough for opponents to operate. There was even a time when it should have been a mismatch, and she was guarding someone on the perimeter and blocked their shot. Sent it packing. My point is this: this kid is about to erupt and have a great year. She's flying under the radar, but coaches are noticing her and what she brings to the table.
