I have a feeling that Callie Stull might find her place within the Varsity line up this Winter at Ankeny High School. Stull is a dedicated hooper, that is willing to do whatever she needs to for the best of her team. She is always willing to sacrifice her body for loose balls either on the floor or into the stands, she has a fundamental skill game that does really well in a coordinated system, and she is a teammate that everyone loves to compete with. This is someone that seems to truly love this sport for the sport itself and that is something we don't see all the time now-a-days. As long as she continues to remember that, she will continue to win in the game in one way or another.

If Valley plays their cards correctly - they should be making a State appearance this Winter with the roster they are going to bring to the table. Someone from this roster, that will have a chance to find her role early on in the season is SG - Dahmynique Davis. When Davis has seen time on the Varsity floor in the past she has does a great job of being a sound role player while putting up stats on both ends at a steadier rate than most. Sometimes it can be hard to come off the bench and produce when you are a younger hooper on the roster but it seems that each time Davis has seen the Varsity floor - she has produced while doing so that should be the case once again for her Junior year over the next six months when her role grows to be a little bit bigger.

Lulu Ulrich looks to be the leader at the PG position this Winter at CR - Jefferson High School. With a team that is going to be made up of several upperclassmen, Ulrich will be in charge of bringing the ball down the floor and running their team's offenses. Her real goals will be to get their best player the ball on offense while being a sound disruptor on defense. Those are two things she has done really well in the past so I would expect anything different this Winter other than the fact that she should have better numbers with how high her usage rate should be. All in all - Ulrich is a pass first PG, that is really good at playing angles and using her quick first step to blow by her individual matchups. If she is stopped, she is sound enough to counter a time or two so that she can find a better situation for herself or the others around her in any given moment.

Monique Nelson came into last season as a Sophomore at Davenport North and she showed what she could do on both ends of the floor almost right away. She finished the season averaging over 11 PPG while also dishing out over 1.5 APG as well but that doesn't include all the tips, deflections, and un-forced turnovers she created with her consistent pressure within both the full courts and within the half court. For all intents and purpose, this is the Wildcats leaders moving throughout the next two season and I'm sure she is well aware of that. She will have to use her solid handle to get into the teeth of the defense and make some plays while locking in on defense within her individual matchup - two things she should continue to thrive at.

Grace Bordenaro gets active. If you go back to watch any of her games last Winter or from the near past - you can tell right away that Bordenaro isn't the type to sit on the three point line and look to just shoot the ball. Instead, she consistently stays moving all around the floor and that helps her get rebounds, get steals, and even some buckets close to the block. It's important to note that this is a skilled SG, who can light the nets on fire some evenings when she is playing with her full confidence. This Winter we could see Bordenaro step up to have a bigger role as a Junior now that this group loses 2 or their top 3 producers from last season, where they went an overall 22-3. Either way, it's going to be a big season ahead for the 2028 Class and G.B. is in that conversation.
