Municipal Jamboree: 5 Names to Know

Since Fall League season ended, I have been out to several Middle School Play Days and events.

Recently, I attended the Municipal Jamboree at Collierville High School and found some new names to know and some that were already on my radar.

Houston Middle had seven 8th graders to move on to high school. However, this team doesn't look like it has missed a beat. Caroline led the team in scoring at the Jamboree with 14 points. She is very active constantly moving. She rotates on defense. She is vocal. She rebounds. She has a scorer's mentality. AND she is only a 6th grader.

Paisley is a player I actually did see in the Fall League. She intrigued me then. She is an energetic point guard, that plays with passion and her body language expresses that she is ready to play. She was hounded defensively. However, she remained composed during the game. She sees the floor well in transition and makes passes up the floor attempting to set her teammates up.

I've written about Olivia before. There was no secret what Arlington's game plan was to start the game - get the ball to Olivia. Her height and size completely buries defenders behind her on the block. She plays with her back to the basket. However, when she is at the high post, she is capable of putting the ball on the floor to attack.

I saw Kielee play last year and wrote about her pesky defense. She is quick and very good at making players change directions. She has grown from a defender to an offensive threat. She is the point guard quarterbacking the offense and putting points on the board. She was 2 of 3 from the three point line scoring 8 points as the second leading scorer of her game.

Nora led her team in scoring with 9 points at the Jamboree. She scored from the 3 and with the pull up. She looks very comfortable from the 3 point line. The small forward plays in the post on defense and comes out on the perimeter on offense.
