This summer brought a lot of first for Prep Girls Hoops Georgia. The biggest of those being our first AAU season of coverage and our first Top 250 Expo. Both of these offered great opportunities to evaluate more prospects.
Many players were able to get back on the court, after what seemed to be an eternity without basketball, and they made the most of it. Here are a few of the prospects that made big jumps in our current rankings.
No. 7 | [player_tooltip player_id="118100" first="De’Mauri" last="Flournoy"] | 5’7” | PG | Carrollton High
Previous Ranking: 9
The Vanderbilt commit brings a very polished offensive game to the floor. She has an advanced command of the dribble and can put together several dribble moves to create space for her jumper. She has a quick release and great elevation with consistent accuracy behind the arc. She also showed great floor vision and nice passing. She’s an energetic defender with good anticipation when on the ball. She truly enjoys competing, is a good teammate, and arguably the best shooter in the state. She is only up two spots, but that is big for a class that is loaded at the top.

Previous Ranking: 20
Rougier is a threat to score whenever she touches the ball. She has great athleticsm and can get off her layups and jump shot in some very advanced ways. She was nice in transition all summer because of her true attack of the rim. She gets the combo guard title becasue she has good handles and can handle pressure while still seeing the floor yet she still has a scorers mentality. She can initiate the offense or be looked to for scoring whenever needed. The North Florida commit jumped six spots in our latest rankings.
No. 17 | [player_tooltip player_id="118113" first="Ashuntee" last="Weems"] | 5’10” | CG | Douglass High
Previous Ranking: 26
Weems made a great impression this summer. What stood out the most was her versatility defensively around the perimeter. She has great length and the quickness to defend big and small guards alike. She picks up a lot of steals and deflecitons and will even swat away shots from time to time with her length. Offensively she is a willing passer that can put together scoring spurts especially in transition or off the dribble. The Jacksonville State commit has a nice mid-range game as well and has moved up nine spots.
No. 20 | [player_tooltip player_id="118105" first="Olympia" last="Chaney"] | 5’7” | CG | Westlake High
Previous Ranking: 47
Chaney made the biggest leap this summer and is one of the better availble guards in this class. Another high level shooter in the class that was quick to remind us all how good she is. She has a great feel for the floor and good shot selection instincts. She does well at both guard spots using good handles when playing lead and good spacing and movement when off the ball. She is a consistent contributor even when playing with very talented teams. She is up 27 spots and is well deserving of the the top 20 ranking.
No. 22 | [player_tooltip player_id="148889" first="Kate" last="Johnson"] | 6’3” | C | Cherokee High
Previous Ranking: 32
Johnson is a true back to the basket post player. She has impressive footwork and balance with 2-3 very good post moves. She works for her positioning and has good hands when receiving post entry passes. She is a space eater on both ends of the floor and moves nicely for her size. She is great on the glass and is very likely to grab any missed shot bouncing to her area. A consistent double-double threat that will also provide some rim protection. The Furman commit truly brings a post presence and is up 10 spots.
No. 31 | [player_tooltip player_id="148898" first="L’or" last="Mputu"] | 6’4 | C | Greenforest Academy
Previous Ranking: 53
During the down time I was able to watch multiple games on the still available post. Mputu has eye catching length and great mobility to go with it. Her ceiling is very high, but she has already shown that she is a good screener and has great hands as a pick in roll target. She runs the floor extremely well and can beat many defending post down the floor. She is good defensively and can even defend the perimeter in spurts but is best for rim protection against all attempts at the rim. Her potential is the biggest reason for the jump of 22 spots.
No. 34 | [player_tooltip player_id="153101" first="Carly" last="Fahey"] | 5’8” | PG | Hebron Academy
Previous Ranking: 49
Fahey has looked better and better each time I have seen her. Her biggest improvement has come with the consistency of her jumper behind the arc. She showed that she could knock down the catch and shoot jumper or shoot it off the bounce in rythmn. She has good vision and plays with nice changes in speed in the half-court. She is a capable defender on the perimeter and a nice facilitating point guard. She is up 15 spots entering her senior year before heading to UNC Asheville.
No. 35 | [player_tooltip player_id="148899" first="Jalisa" last="Dunlap"] | 5’10” | SG | Jackson High
Previous Ranking: 40
Dunlap has great length and athleticism at the guard position. She is a natural slasher that likes to get to the rim and uses good body control to make tough layups in traffic. She is not very fancy with her dribble, but uses several fundamental moves very well to get by defenders. She is a capable shooter when given an open look and is a consistent pull-up threat in transition. The Jacksonville University commit is up 5 spots in our rankings.
