Peyton McCabe - Skutt Catholic 24’
Using her excellent ball-handling ability, Peyton sliced and diced defenses with authority. She has a very nice outside shot but never forces it. She prefers to get penetration and improvise a bit until something pops open for her. She consistently made the correct reads all day long.
Kiana Wiley - Lincoln High 23’
Kiana set the tone on both ends for Team 4. She has a unique combination of size and strength that earns her high-percentage looks at the basket. She has great control of the ball and rarely turned it over. She put the clamps on whoever she was guarding thanks to her effort and lateral ability.
Teja Tsangarakis - Chaparral 21’
Every coach would sign up for what Teja brought to the court last Saturday. She was a tenacious rebounder and showed some impressive jumping ability. She ran the floor hard and was often rewarded for leaking out behind the napping defense.
Mazzi Melton - Bennington 22’
Mazzi was the defensive specialist for this deep and talented team. She was flying all around the court, helping on drives and sprinting to the perimeter to contest three-point jumpers. She was a persistent screen setter and did some damage slipping the screen into a wide open lane.
Mya Babbitt - Millard South 23’
An absolute sharpshooter, Mya had defenses frustrated whenever she checked in. Second-guessing is not ever an issue with her it seems, because she was pulling it from all over the court with no hesitations. Defenses began to catch on, so she countered by putting it on the floor and creating advantages at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="94395" first="Kaysia" last="Woods"] - Lincoln High 21’
Kaysia turned in one of the most impressive performances at the Expo, showing off her refined skill set. She has excellent footwork in the paint and can run and slide with speedy guards she is switched on to. She hit three’s, ran the pick and roll, and used excellent dribble drives to create driving lanes.
[player_tooltip player_id="174499" first="McKenna" last="Rathbun"] - Lincoln Southwest 22’
McKenna has strong, reliable hands. This pays off when rebounding and when receiving post entry passes in traffic. She plays within herself and puts forward a positive impact.
[player_tooltip player_id="174472" first="Reilly" last="Palmer"] - Elkhorn 22’
Reilly drilled spot-up threes for her team throughout the day. She punished defenders for helping too far off her either with the 3, or attacking the closeout and creating from there.
