Class 1A: Emerging Juniors For 2021

As the season begins to take shape, this holiday break is the perfect time to start looking ahead - both to the rest of this basketball campaign and the future. We want to offer up thoughts and highlight those players from each class and each grade level some publicity to try and help them gain the attention of a college coach or two. As always, if there is someone you feel we missed and deserves recognition, reach out through any means available. <strong>Camrin Baird, Woodbury Central (2022)</strong> The top junior scorer in Class 1A at the break is Woodbury Central’s Camrin Baird. In 10 games, Baird has 215 points with 65 rebounds, 47 steals, 19 assists and six blocked shots. Baird is making nearly 50 percent of her shots to go with being a 56-percent shooter from the free throw stripe. She has also made nine 3-pointers. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="129082" first="Emily" last="Jones"], Wayne (2022)</strong> Another 20-point a night player, [player_tooltip player_id="129082" first="Emily" last="Jones"] has already scored 213 points through 10 games. The junior standout also has 78 rebounds to go with 21 steals, 19 assists and 12 blocks. Jones is shooting almost 44 percent from the field, 63 percent from the 3-point line and has made nine triples. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="63613" first="Lauren" last="Wilson"], Springville (2022)</strong> Springville’s [player_tooltip player_id="63613" first="Lauren" last="Wilson"] is already over the 100-point and 100-rebound mark on the season. She has scored 155 points to go along with 102 boards, including 43 on the offensive glass. Wilson has 33 blocks, 32 steals and 29 assists to go along with it. She is shooting 50 percent from the field and continues to stretch her game by putting up 24 three-pointers. <strong>Jennah Carpenter, Nashua-Plainfield (2022)</strong> The quick hands of Jennah Carpenter have led to several easy buckets on the other end for Nashua-Plainfield this year. Carpenter has swiped 42 steals with 135 points scored, 26 rebounds and six assists. The junior is shooting over 58 percent from the field on the season. <strong>Alyssa Tegeler, Belle Plaine (2022)</strong> Belle Plaine’s Alyssa Tegeler makes her presence known inside the paint. The 6-foot Tegeler has blocked 21 shots in nine games this year. When she gets position near the rim, Tegeler finishes, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. She has scored 118 points with 86 rebounds, 15 steals and 10 assists.
