I viewed three games last week: Minster at Springfield Catholic Central, Tippecanoe at Vandalia Butler and Franklin at Brookville. Throughout this week, I will take a look at some of the top shooters, top defenders and the Playmakers who stood out during the games I watched.
Today, a look at the five shooters who caught my eye:
Week 12 Shooters
Addie Lloyd Addie Lloyd 5'6" | CG Franklin | 2023 OH , 5-6 2023, Franklin
What a great day for the Franklin sophomore who is mostly known for her stellar defense. Addie (pictured right) has begun to really come into her own as she took a more offensive role with the team last weekend with a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc. She is averaging just under ten points per game over the last four games, and showed an ability to not only score from behind the arc, she also finished in transition at the rim. Still a strong defender, her game will continue to grow if she keeps working on her offense skills. Smooth passer and ready to blossom.
Janae Hoying, 5-8 2021, Minster
She continues to show why she is so dangerous on the offensive end of the court. Not only does she have a very solid and deadly shot from deep range, Janae also can get past her defender and score in the paint. She has very good handles, able to control the tempo of the game and has strong court vision.
Kenna Smith, 5-6 2021, Tippecanoe
So the game prior to the Butler game, Kenna truly caught fire and made it a special record setting day against Stebbins. As a guard at Tippecanoe, Kenna is a key part of their success and current 20-0 record. Often the silent hero, she moves well and can create a shot for herself well. Normally a player who sets up her teammates, on this night, Kenna dropped a career-high 28 points with a school record 8 threes. Can float around the arc and score. Always aggressive and a good leader.
Serenity Castle, 5-10 2022, Catholic Central
Her game continues to impress me, as she is getting more and more comfortable in a leadership role. Good floor leader and can lead in transition well. Plays well north/south and can score with either hand at the rim. Will see her role increase next season, but for now, it’s about utilizing opportunities and helping her team make a tournament run. Good basketball IQ, makes good decisions.
Jacey Justice Jacey Justice 5'8" | SG Peebles | 2021 State OH , 5-8 2021, Peebles
She wasn’t in my coverage last week, but the performance she put on was worth noting as her game was livestreamed. This high-scoring guard took it to another level last week scoring 55 points to set the Peebles record. Very level headed and focused on the next play, Jacey has good handles and can mix it up and score from anywhere. Can put the ball on the floor and create, also will score from beyond the perimeter.
