Player Evaluations: Bardstown

<strong>Player Evaluations: Bardstown</strong> During this 2021 season evaluations are important for each player in the state. Its a lot of talent in the state in every class. Trying to capture all of them will be difficult, but we will try to get to as many as possible. The latest school that I have watched play was Bardstown High School. One of the top teams in the state and the fifth region. Bardstown uses their speed to press to score. Lets take a look at some of the players that caught my eye. <strong>Bardstown</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="106131" first="Jaileyah" last="Cotton"]-2022- Jaileyah is one of the fastest players with the ball in her hands. She is a strong guard with the ability to blow by you and punish you with her strength. She is currently leading the team in scoring at 20.7 points per game. Last night she had a 36 point outburst. Cotton displayed patience in picking her spots to score. She uses her body well to finish around the rim. She has a good handle on the ball. Her speed makes her a good defender. She does well with keeping the ball in front of her. Jaileyah’s passing lane defense is fierce. She anticipates passes very well. I would like to see her develop her jump shot more. I truly believe if she adds that to her game she would be completely unstoppable. At this point no one can stop her now, but adding that element to her game...watch out!! She is definitely a mid major prospect. [player_tooltip player_id="157975" first="Kadence" last="Walls"]-2022- Kadence is a tough gritty crafty player. Currently she is second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game. Kadence is a tough defender who comes up with a lot of steals. She is good at reading when a defender is about to turn their back so she can get the steal. She plays all over the court. She is willing to give up her body to take charges against bigger players. On the offensive end of the ball she can knock down shots from deep. Last night she went for 17 points making four shots from beyond the arc. She is able to draw fouls with her craftiness. I would like to see her use her left hand more. Definitely a collegiate prospect. Holds one offer right now. [player_tooltip player_id="198852" first="Kaia" last="Grabbert"]- 2023- Kaia is a strong athletic guard forward who rebounds and has to guard the other teams post players. She is currently third on the team in scoring at 10 points per game. Right now at this level she is playing out of position, but is gaining some valuable experience in being able to battle on the glass that will pay off for her at the next level. Grabbert does well at scoring around the rim. At 5’9" with athleticism she gets from end to end really fast. Her jumping ability helps her rebound the ball well. On offense she has the ability to knock down shots from deep. She can also attack off the dribble. I would like to see her develop her outside shooting more and left hand even though right now that is not what she is needed for on her team. It would be good for her to add those things now. It would make her a more versatile player at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="154520" first="MaTija" last="Yocum"]-2021- MaTija is a tough, fast, crafty player. Currently averaging 9.5 points per game is fourth on the team in scoring. A fast lefty player who plays big around the basket at 5’3" she averages 6 rebounds per game. She has a nose for the ball and good leaping ability. She doesn’t mind mixing it up in the paint with bigger players. She is really quick to the ball. She scored 10 points last night, but her impact was very evident in everything else she was doing. She is a tenacious defender. She comes up with a lot of steals from her on ball and help side defense.
