GHSA State Championships: Day 2 Standouts
2022 5-9 F Aqoyas Cody – Josey
Aqoyas Cody had a nose for the ball on Thursday. Even when Josey was down, she continued to fight hard on the glass and on defense. She made a key steal late to set up Josey’ title surge. She finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Cody has a nice touch around the rim and hit baseline jumpers to loosen up the defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="210305" first="Becca" last="Ledford"] carried Fannin County as a solid ball handler and sneaky good scorer. Ledford, a very good athlete, produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists while only turning the ball over twice. Ledford made things happen when she got into the lane. She finished with pull-ups and floaters. She looks like the prototypical North Georgia guard that would have a strong career in college.
2024 5-5 G [player_tooltip player_id="254160" first="Courtney" last="Davis"] – Fannin County
The freshman came out firing, scoring 9 points off the bench. She has a good-looking shot and can light up teams from beyond the arc. Even though she’s slight of build, Davis isn’t afraid to use the dribble to get into the teeth of the defense.
2022 6-0 G [player_tooltip player_id="118139" first="Sydney" last="Bowles"] – Woodward Academy
With 22 points, [player_tooltip player_id="118139" first="Sydney" last="Bowles"] led all scorers. She took a few tough perimeter shots early but the more she attacked the rim, the better she was. Bowles helped ice the game from the foul line late. Her shooting touch and aggressiveness make her one of the toughest covers in the state.
2021 5-5 G Kai Lanier – Woodward Academy
Daughter of Coach Rob Lanier of Georgia State Men’s Basketball, Kai Lanier played with her typical lioness heart, ferocious for the 25 minutes she was on the floor. Lanier led all rebounders with 10 boards including five offensive. She scored 14 points and came away with 4 steals. Her energy and fearlessness make her the perfect teammate.
2021 6-0 F [player_tooltip player_id="118122" first="Jasmine" last="Stevens"] – Forest Park – Presbyterian
“Jiggy” had a really nice game to close out her career. She tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. She scored up close and hit some shots from the mid-range. Her well-rounded skill set is a nice building block for Presbyterian.
