The 2023 class is turning into something special as six players have received NCAA Div I offers and two more have committed to Southeastern Conference and Pac-12 Conference schools. To be sure, the class is not in any way top heavy. Depth in the class has made movement up the ranks difficult. This article highlights the four players whose play warranted significant advancement. The players are list in rank order. [player_tooltip player_id="127285" first="McKayla" last="Miller"], 6’1", PG, Cimarron, SSA Gameball - Miller moves up five spots to #4 on the back of her work. In leading the team in scoring, rebounds, steals, blocks and assists she averaged 18 points, 3 steals, 3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds, She shot 37% from three and 77% from the line. Joel H. 2.2.21 post - Leads the team in scoring, rebounds, steals, blocks, and assists. After earning first team Hi-Plains League in 2020 she followed it up with first team selection in the Great West Activities Conference this season. A lengthy player who has strong court sense, scoring ability at all three levels, speed with the ball, and creativity and athleticism to create and finish she makes everyone around her better. She also defends all five positions. [caption id="attachment_255077" align="alignleft" width="161"]<img class="wp-image-255077" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/02/Gimino-with-ball-Jacobs-Kapaun-Mt.-Carmel-Sanders-McElrath-Manual-Wichita-East-2.12.21-crop-2090x1372-1613343440-300x197.jpg" alt="Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Wheat State Elite - If a team was going to slow down Kapaun everything had to be done to disrupt her game on both ends of the floor. Playing with two strong post players with commitments to NCAA Div I and II schools and a cast of quick, fast running mates with three point range, Gimino ran the team. She faced consistent full court pressure and she often hurt teams who did with her speed, creativity off the bounce, athletic finishing ability, and her perimeter shooting. Up 26 spots to #13. Fast with the ball, creates off the bounce, finishes with athleticism, and shoots well from the perimeter her game continues to strengthen. She is up 26 spots to #13. She followed her honorable mention selection as a freshman with Greater Wichita League second team honors this season. [player_tooltip player_id="156305" first="Talexa" last="Weeter"], 5’11", SG, Goodland, Western Kansas Elite - Weeter made the biggest jump, rising 30 spots to #33. Athletic with good transition speed to go with size and a solid build, Weeter earned Great West Activities Conference first team honors this season after her second team selection as a freshman. She is a solid perimeter shooter. [caption id="attachment_266628" align="alignleft" width="160"] Stanton County 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="191486" first="Adyson" last="Scott"]. Photo: Robert Kelly.[/caption][player_tooltip player_id="191486" first="Adyson" last="Scott"], 5’10", SF, Stanton County, SSA Gameball - Scott, a second team Hi-Plains League selection, climbed 15 spots to #72. Scott has gotten stronger and faster and that spelled bad news for her opponents. She generates steals with her off-ball anticipation, goes end-to-end with speed, has good hands, and knocks down the three off the bounce or catch. She has great hands and the ability to get to the rim off the bounce. She elevates well on the finish and does so with speed. Scott also has a good looking three point shot that sets up her drives. If that is not enough, she has a bushel full of post moves to create scores around the paint.
