Just when I thought the 2023 class couldn’t be more loaded with talent, I’ve been able to see some of these athletes who should certainly be on the list for the top ones in North Carolina.

[player_tooltip player_id="297178" first="Sara" last="Plyler"] | Gaston Christian

Plyler is a scorer no matter where she is on the court. Seeing headlines of her scoring 20 and 30 points already in high school is certainly not an unusual thing for her. In addition to her ability to score, she knows how to handle the ball well finding her open teammates on the court as well as shifting to the open areas herself to show off her shot. Even at a young age, she was constantly talking on the court directing her teammates and letting them know what may be coming their way.

[player_tooltip player_id="297180" first="Betsey" last="Burnett"] | Garinger

Burnett could probably play all guard positions on the court as she does well serving as a floor general for her team directing plays and knowing where to move the ball. She has nice ball moves like jab steps and fakes that she uses to create separation between her and her defender. She is a scorer on all three levels, especially when showing off her shot from downtown. She shows no fear when putting up her shot even if it is right in front of her opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id="297184" first="Lydia" last="Babirye"] | Victory Christian

Babirye does a great job turning defense into offense grabbing steals and taking them up the court to the other end. Her ball handles allow her to get all the way to the basket with speed no matter who is trying to stop her. She can score away from the basket as well shooting from behind the arc, and her quick release makes it difficult to defend. Her vision of the court allows her to find open teammates making cuts to the open areas of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="296208" first="Hadleigh" last="Dill"] | Enka

Dill uses her height and length to be productive on both ends of the court. She is a nice ball handler who can take it all the way to the hoop herself even showing off spin moves along the way. She doesn’t have to be close to the basket to score, though, as she has a nice shot from behind the three point line. She does a great job getting by her opponents to show off her shot or make it all the way to the basket.
