Below are the final standouts from the All-Academic Girls Basketball Camp. [player_tooltip player_id="295652" first="Savannah" last="Gibbs"] - MCW Starz/Deerfield Academy - 6’0’’ - SF/PF - ’22 On the last day of camp, Gibbs was undoubtedly one of the best players. She was scoring at all three levels with ease and once in rhythm was hard to contain. I liked how patient and under control she was getting to the rim. Gibbs used a crafty dribble and protected the ball well while using her 6ft frame to her advantage, scoring over smaller defenders at will. Gibbs showed her touch from the outside, too, showcasing one of the most confident strokes of the day. It seemed like whenever Gibbs touched the ball in the halfcourt, she could find a way to beat you. Her size and soft shooting touch made for a long day at camp for her opponents. [player_tooltip player_id="313679" first="Alex" last="Modzelewski"] - DTX/Greens Farms Academy - 5’10’’ - SF - ’22 Modzelewski’s effectiveness with her off-hand immediately caught my eye. She was very fluid and comfortable catching, ripping through, and attacking with her left hand, which made her extremely difficult to defend. Modzelewski also utilized the mid-range area well all week long. She can play both forward positions, so having the ability to create from the high post and display the discipline to shoot, take what the defense gives her and knock down mid-range jumpers was encouraging to see. Typically, you do not see many players turn down threes and go to a dribble pull up from 15-18 feet which Modzelewski did better than anyone. Seeing that level of efficiency throughout the camp made her stand out amongst her peers. [player_tooltip player_id="266765" first="Rachel" last="Storey"] - Holderness - 6’0’’ - ’SF/PF - 22 Storrey checked nearly every box for what I want from a wing: Size and athleticism, knockdown spot-up shooting, good shot creator off the bounce, and high basketball IQ. She was easily one of the most impressive players at the camp, and what I appreciated the most was her movement off the ball. Storrey face cut hard, buried her defender on the block with a good seal, and constantly took advantage of her height mismatches on the inside. Storrey looks college-ready. The way she runs the court and her general feel for the game showed me how comfortable she was on the court. I saw her pass up good shots to get her teammate a better shot, and when she knifed into the paint, Storrey made it a point of emphasis to locate her teammate spotting up, hitting them with a pass in their shooting pocket. She was a silent killer. Not going to give the audience a lot of showstopping highlights, but she possesses many skills that easily translate to the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="278582" first="Olivia" last="Fleming"] - Lady Rivals/Presentation of Mary Academy - 5’7’’ - PG - ’26 Fleming’s play last week left every spectator I talked to flabbergasted once I told them that she represents the class of 2026. The confidence that spewed from Fleming is uncharacteristic for a player her age. Considering that she is matching up against prospects who have up to 3 years on her makes her performance more eye-popping. The way she commanded the floor all week long got my undivided attention, and her facilitation is well beyond her years. Fleming understood when to attack the rim and when to pull it out and settle the offense. On defense, it was hard to find another player who competed harder. Fleming slides her feet well and does an excellent job keeping her assignment in front of her. She is not the biggest guard physically, but there was no one in her league at the camp when it came to her heart and killer mindset. The future is bright for Fleming, and she will be consistently turning heads for the next 5 years.
