Continue ReadingWith the high school basketball season just around the corner, it is important to take a look back at some of the standout performers of the 2020-2021 – 6A Division in Arizona. Each team is full of talent and has some of the top players in the state returning to play for another year. If you are a girl’s basketball fan, this group will not disappoint. Part two of this list features all FRESHMAN during last season!!! These girls really brought a lot to each one of their team’s last year and I am looking forward to following the progression they each make over the course of their time playing high school basketball.
Eanae Dagon – Sophomore – Desert Vista HS – 14.4 PPG
Eanae had an all-star freshman season for the Desert Vista Thunder averaging 14.4 points per game and finished with a total of 173 points on the year. This stat alone brings her to the first spot of the Top Arizona 6A Returning PPG Leaders: Part 2 and makes her a big name for the upcoming season. Dagon can hit the three-ball but if she is not on, she is not afraid to get to the rack. Confidence at a young age is something special. The Thunder are lucky to have this little gem over the next few years.
Mia Singstock Mia Singstock 5'9" | SF Pinnacle | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – Pinnacle HS – 14.1 PPG
Another freshman with an outstanding first year playing high school ball was Mia Singstock Mia Singstock 5'9" | SF Pinnacle | 2024 State AZ . She averaged 14.1 PPG and finished the year with a competitive total of 226 points. Shooting 40% from behind the arc, Singstock made it known to her opponents that she was a threat on the offensive end but this five-foot-eight shooting guard will block out and rebound with the best of them. She averaged 5.8 rebounds per game while playing in a tough conference against older, more experienced players. Mia has a good head on her shoulders and knows the game of basketball.
Aviva Schnitzer Aviva Schnitzer 5'8" | SG Chaparral | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – Chaparral HS – 13.6 PPG
Aviva Schnitzer Aviva Schnitzer 5'8" | SG Chaparral | 2024 State AZ is going to be one to watch over the next few years in high school and she made that very clear throughout her 2020-2021 freshman season with the Chaparral Firebirds. Although the team’s record may not have shown a “winning” year, Schnitzer was able to make a name for herself through a tough season. Averaging 13.6 PPG and scoring an impressive 244 points total is no small feat. Against Coronado early in the year, she had 28 to lead her team to the win, and the following game she scored 20. Aviva is a tough kid with a lot of heart.
Sarah Nakamura Miller Sarah Nakamura Miller 5'11" | SG Xavier College Prep | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – Xavier Prep HS – 13.5 PPG
Miller is returning for her sophomore year to Xavier Prep High School in Phoenix to play combo guard for the Gators. This talented youngster averaged 13.5 points per game and a total of 230 points over a 17-game season. Helping lead her team to a 13-4 overall record, Sarah had two games with a double-double, (Chandler – 31 pts. + 11 reb., Mesa – 14pts. + 14 reb.) earning a Max Preps AZ ranking of 14. She has shown that she can play at multiple levels at a young age so I can only imagine what will come with time and hard work over the next few years. Bright things ahead!!
Ella Murakami Ella Murakami 5'11" | SG Perry | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – Basha HS – 12.7 PPG
The last spot on the part two list goes to Ella Murakami Ella Murakami 5'11" | SG Perry | 2024 State AZ who averaged 12.7 PPG for the Basha Bears. Scoring a total of 216 points over the whole season, she has shown that she is going to be one of the main spark plugs for this team whenever she is on the court. According to MaxPreps, Ella’s stats in points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks per game are all above the national average showing her capabilities on a large scale. She ended the season with a high-scoring, 21 points, against Perry High to solidify a successful year. Looking forward to watching her game improve over her high school career.
