To continue our look at the superlatives from this past weekend at the PGH Top-250, we will now take a look at the players who displayed the best vision. The ability to see the court, read the play, and diagnose what is happening (on both ends) is of the utmost importance for college coaches. These three players displayed some of the best vision at Solid Rock this weekend. [player_tooltip player_id="315198" first="Mataya" last="Hall"] | 5-8 CG | Sapulpa | 2025 | @HallMataya I have never been disappointed when watching Mataya play. I saw her struggle in one game on the PGH Circuit and then come back the next game and hit a game-winner. That showed me all I needed to know about her confidence and demeanor. When you see Hall play, her vision stands out on both ends. Especially in this type of showcase situation, it was clear to see that she has played a lot of basketball - both in a team setting and in a pick-up situation - due to her ability to read what her fellow offensive players were going to do. She can see things coming on both ends and makes the right basketball play. Add her in with Coach Calip’s insanely good Sapulpa squad and she is going to be flat-out deadly over the next several years; yet another D-I prospect for the Chieftains. [player_tooltip player_id="261731" first="Grace" last="Pippett"] | 5-11 CG | Broken Arrow | 2023 | @grace_pippett Grace was ranked too low in the 2023 rankings. I know that now. Of course, the first time that I saw her play she was 5-7 and now she is much bigger. In fact, it seems like every guard in Oklahoma is getting much bigger, but I digress. Pippett shined in multiple games for a lot more than her height and great length. She plays smart defense, stepping into passing lanes, moving well laterally to stay in front of her opponent. She can fill it up from all three levels, especially inside where her height - relative to the guard who is defending her - is a huge difference-maker. In terms of this particular article’s superlative, her vision is very, very good and getting better. She reads the play well from the guard position and probably had the best defensive vision that I saw of any guard at the expo. She reads what the opponent is doing really well. [player_tooltip player_id="238723" first="Shamar" last="Bert"] | 5-7 CG | Putnam City West | 2024 | @shamarb20 Our No. 4-ranked player in the class of 2024 plays well beyond her years in terms of vision. It is clear that Shamar has played A LOT of basketball over the years as she makes plays that others just simply do not see coming. So many times during the day I thought Bert had thrown the ball away as she threw it seemingly into the middle of nowhere. However, it was a cutting player that she saw before anyone else that received the pass in stride and often finished with ease because of a great pass. They should start calling her ’The Psychic" because she truly sees things before they happen. Her vision was unmatched at the expo and I have a feeling it may be unmatched in all of Oklahoma, regardless of high school class. She has a high Division-I level of vision as well as a high Division-I level of every other kind of talent to go along with it.
