Throughout this month, I will be highlighting selected teams across South Florida. Today, my focus is on Seminole Ridge in Loxahatchee. The Lady Hawks went 7-1 last season under head coach Maria Hudson. JahnaeMidget (23.0 ppg/Palm Beach Atlantic) and Lynzie Smikle (9.7 rpg) are key departures. Midget was one of the top scorers in South Florida.
Seminole Ridge is led by Mercer commit Aspen Johnson. The versatile prospect averaged 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.8 steals per game. At 5’11, Johnson can play multiple positions on the floor. She is one of the best players in Palm Beach County.

averaged 11.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Both Thornton and Johnson combine for a majority of Seminole Ridge’s 2020-2021 production. A pretty good one-two tandem, if you ask me.
Kiori Butler is a good player that provides help on the glass. With Smikle gone, she is the top returnee on the boards (8.6 rpg). Look for more offensive production from her this season. I think a few more buckets from her will really help this team.
Iasiah Suprius should contribute as well. Per information, she is a transfer from Santaluces where she averaged 10.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Suprius could be a big add for this roster.
The rest of the unit is mixed with three freshman. Look for them to possibly contribute under strong senior leadership. Not many teams in Palm Beach County have a D-1 commit on their roster to learn from.
Many units would struggle replacing a player like Midget. However, Seminole Ridge is not one of those teams. Starting with the play of Johnson, the Lady Hawks have plenty of firepower to contend. I think the play of its roster beyond the 2022’s will be important.
