Where are the top seniors in Washington headed for college? Prep Girls Hoops has closely monitored the recruitment of players all across Washington and their is no shortage of talent in the Evergreen State. Nearly two dozen seniors will be playing at the Division 1 level next fall. In a 4 part series, we will break down which players are headed to Division 1 from the state of Washington.
D1 Bound part 2:
2019 6’2 PF Kyra Beckman (Snohomish HS) – The bruising forward is headed to Brigham Young University to play for the WCC Champions. BYU’s season ended in the second round of the NCAA tourney in a close loss to Stanford. Kyra will provide a mixture of powerful inside play and a soft shooting touch from the outside. Kyra is a high level rebounder and she can finish with either hand, which will be useful as she will be playing with and against players taller than her from here on out.
2019 5’8 G Ahna Burney (DME Academy) – The quickest athlete in Washington spent her senior year down in Florida at the DME Sports Academy. Burney is an explosive guard with a smooth and quick release from the three line. She will be suiting up for the University of Central Florida in the the fall, choosing UCF over multiple highly competitive programs. UCF was the second best team in the AAC this season, behind only national powerhouse UCONN.
2019 6’2 PF Khari Clark (Thomas Jefferson, CO) – A Washington native, Khari Clark will be off to Loyola Marymount University. She will provide a shot blocking presence and she can really run the floor from end to end. She has a nice touch on her shot from 12 feet out and will only get better playing at the D1 level.
2019 5’8 SG Grace Sarver (West Seattle HS) – A 4-year impact player at West Seattle will have a short drive to Washington State University to play her collegiate basketball. Grace is a really hard working athlete that can finish with finesse and athleticism in the paint. She has solid foot speed and can pressure the ball on defense. Grace is apart of Wazzu Head Coach Mary Ethridge’s first steps in making sure that homegrown talent stays put.
2019 6’0 SG Emily Rodabaugh (Archbishop Murphy HS) – Emily has been the consistent star just north of Seattle for multiple years now and deservingly picked up multiple Division 1 offers before deciding Northern Arizona University was the best fit for her. Coach Loree Payne and the staff made her a priority in the recruitment process and that stood out to Emily. NAU will be getting a tall guard than can really make plays from the perimeter.
2019 6’1 PF Isabela Hernandez (Lynden Christian HS) – A flat out winner from Lynden, WA. Isabela runs the floor very well and she is a team player first and foremost. Lynden Christian Head Coach Brady Bomber raves about her on/off court leadership ability and that has San Diego State University excited about the type of player and person they are getting.
