Forty-eight schools were in attendance, giving hundreds of players the opportunity to compete in a tournament-like atmosphere early in the season. This event was loaded with talent. Let’s take a look at some of the best underclassmen prospects from the weekend.
Brynn Lusby | 2024 | 6’0” Small Forward/Power Forward | Frisco Memorial HS – Lusby had it going with her turnaround jumper in the post on Saturday. She was virtually automatic when utilizing it. The sophomore forward also exhibited that she can shoot the three ball from the catch. She was excellent on the block too, showing good touch and solid footwork with her interior scoring. Additionally, Busby was the emotional leader for her team throughout their championship game battle against Frisco Liberty, constantly looking to pump up her team. She was awarded a spot on the all-tournament team.
Ciara Harris | 2024 | 5’8” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | McKinney North HS – Harris was incredibly productive in McKinney North’s third-place matchup vs. John Paul II, recording a double-double to the tune of 16 points and 11 rebounds. She made some significant contributions on defense too, accounting for three steals and two blocks. She was a monster in this game. The sophomore wing was so good at scoring within the flow of the offense, and did so in a number of ways. Whether it was in transition, at the basket, or from beyond the arc, Harris got it done. Most importantly, she made several key plays in a close-game that helped to give her team the advantage. She ultimately earned a spot on the all-tournament team and a win in the bronze medal game of the tournament.
Kaelyn Hamilton Kaelyn Hamilton 5'10" | SF McKinney North | 2024 State TX | 2024 | 5’10” Combo Guard | McKinney North HS – Hamilton had a quiet scoring game by her standards in her Saturday outing, but she found other ways to impact the game. She made timely and accurate passes to her teammates, converted steals into fast break scores, as well as pitched in eight points via some tough finishes through traffic and contact when attacking the basket off the dribble. Although I only got to see her final game of the weekend, it is certainly worth mentioning that the McKinney North sophomore accounted for a 21-point, nine-rebound game and a 16-point, seven-rebound game earlier in the tournament.
Madison Griggs | 2024 | 5’9” Small Forward | Mansfield Legacy HS – While her team was unable to edge out Prosper in their opening game of the event, Griggs put on a show in the fourth quarter of a closely contested matchup. She displayed good range and a smooth release on her jumper when spotting up from deep, knocking down three triples in the final quarter of action. The Mansfield Legacy wing also showcased that she is capable of scoring at the rim as the screener in pick-and-roll scenarios. This is a perimeter player with a reliable jumper and an effortless style of play. She is definitely someone to keep an eye on this season.
Nicole Aguirre | 2024 | 5’4” Point Guard | Rockwall HS – Aguirre operated as Rockwall’s backup point guard and was phenomenal in that role for the Lady Yellowjackets. Her distributing and ball handling were both terrific, and she was incredibly unselfish whenever she was in the game. She navigated the floor well, took care of the basketball when faced with on-ball pressure, and zipped some fantastic passes to teammates that resulted in scores. This allowed Rockwall’s offense to not skip a beat whenever she was inserted into the game, which is exactly what you want to see from an important bench player such as Aguirre.
Sadie Sanchez Sadie Sanchez 5'6" | PG Randall | 2025 State TX | 2025 | 5’5” Point Guard | Randall HS – Sanchez turned a lot of heads this summer at numerous grassroots events, earning her a spot on our 2025 watchlist. The freshman floor general was trusted to quarterback the offense as Randall’s lead guard, and showed that she is already capable of competing and thriving at the varsity level as a first-year player. Her decision making was solid, as was her ability to get open when playing away from the ball. She didn’t have her best outing as a scorer when I saw her on Thursday, but she bounced back with a strong 14-point performance the following day. Sanchez will only improve as she continues to gain varsity experience.
