Diamonds Classic: Players of the Game

Diamonds Classic hosted their annual showcase on Saturday at Legion Collegiate Academy. Six games were played. What was even more impressive than her points were all the rebounds she grabbed for her team crashing the boards and going up high to get the stat. She saw the floor well knowing how to drive hard to the basket. [player_tooltip player_id="276147" first="Ella" last="Hobbs"] | 1 of 1 Prep | PF | 2024 24 points // 15 rebounds // 4 steals // 2 blocks Hobbs is a good addition for her team being able to stay inside to grab rebounds, and she seals off her opponents well to get the entry pass. She has nice power dribbles when her back is to the basket to help her turn and put the defender where she wants them to go. She had nice blocks making sure her opponents didn’t have an easy path to the basket. She was scoring on multiple levels making sure to make them close to the basket and show off a nice midrange shot. [player_tooltip player_id="116898" first="Senali" last="Moss"] | South Meck | G | 2022 21 points // 8 rebounds // 9 assists // 10 steals Moss (pictured above) had one of the most impressive stat lines I’ve seen this year. She was dominating at the Diamonds Classic grabbing steals on many possessions that she took all the way to the hoop herself or found a teammate cutting down the lane. She followed shots to grab some rebounds for her team, too. She sees the floor well finding her cutting teammates in the paint to dish them the ball. Her vision is good on defense, too, as she was consistently causing deflections stopping her opponent from getting a play going. <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/Jocelyne-Grier-scaled-crop-1921x1261-1638709245.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-360535 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/Jocelyne-Grier-scaled-crop-1921x1261-1638709245-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>Jocelyne Grier | North Meck | G | 2025 16 points // 3 rebounds // 1 assist // 1 steal Grier showed off her stroke from deep knocking three down after finding the gaps in the defense. She can make cuts without the ball or create separation herself to put up her shot. Her scoring was instrumental in pulling away with the victory showing her ability to already play under pressure. She flashes in the paint for some rebounds, too.
