The third week of the season is upon us and we are looking for the best games on each day of the week. There are some really good matchups on each day this week This is our breakdown of the week ahead.

Monday: Mason City (2-1) vs Clear Lake (1-1) 6:45pm
This is a game that is always very competitive as both of these schools are really solid year in and year out. Clear Lake has won the last three meetings between these two schools and prior to that, Mason City had won 11 in a row. This should be a very even matchup as on paper both of these teams match up well. For Clear Lake they will lean on sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="314108" first="Xada" last="Johnson"] and junior Jaden Ainley to lead the charge. Mason City is young this year and have six players who score between 7.0 points and 8.7 points a game. I would look out the most for sophomores [player_tooltip player_id="246120" first="Reggi" last="Spotts"] and Grace Berding but Milwaukee commit [player_tooltip player_id="107012" first="Jada" last="Williams"] is also one to be mindful of.
Tuesday: West Burlington (3-0) vs Burlington Notre Dame (4-0) 6:00pm
This is going to be a great matchup between two unbeaten teams and rivals. Burlington Notre Dame leads the series 14-12 but they won 12 in a row from 2011-2017. This should be a very entertaining first matchup of the season between the two teams. West Burlington is led by junior McKenna Marlow who scores 17.7 points a game. Burlington Notre Dame is led by senior Megan Harrell who scores 15.3 points a game. Both of these teams have star players and then players who fit in behind them really well. This is going to be a great Tuesday night game.
Thursday: Bishop Garrigan (3-0) vs Newell-Fonda (2-2) 6:45pm
This will be the 7th all-time matchup between these two teams and Newell-Fonda holds a 5-1 series advantage. This has been the 1A State title matchup the last two seasons and very well could be the matchup once again. These teams met in the regular season last year and Bishop Garrigan prevailed in a blowout, 66-45. Newell-Fonda has not lost yet this year while Bishop Garrigan has lost twice. Of course, those losses have come to 5A Iowa City West and 3A West Lyon that they were competitive in so you can’t really take much from them. They are scheduling tough games to prepare themselves for the season. Newell-Fonda is led by [player_tooltip player_id="160561" first="Mary" last="Walker"] who scores 13.3 points a game. [player_tooltip player_id="63019" first="Audi" last="Crooks"] leads Bishop Garrigan with 19.5 points a game.
Friday: Dallas Center-Grimes (4-1) vs Grinnell (3-0) 6:15pm
The first big test for Grinnell comes Friday as they face Dallas Center-Grimes. Grinnell has coasted to three easy wins thus far this season while Dallas Center-Grimes dropped their only loss to North Polk. Dallas Center-Grimes has won the last two games in the series but this Grinnell team is veteran and going to be a tough out this year. Dallas Center-Grimes is led by St. Thomas commit [player_tooltip player_id="127617" first="Emma" last="Miner"] who scores 14.2 points a game. Grinnell is led by senior [player_tooltip player_id="163322" first="Ivey" last="Schmidt"] who scores 22.0 points a game. This is going to be a battle of very different styles as DCG likes to slow the pace and Grinnell wants to run.
Saturday: Dike-New Hartford (3-0) vs Center Point-Urbana (4-0) 3:00pm
Both of these teams are off to a great start this year and have had no resistant thus far in their schedules. Dike-New Hartford won the 3A title last year and currently look like they are going to be serious contenders once again. Center Point-Urbana was not able to get back to Wells Fargo to try to repeat but they have a great chance of going back this year. Dike-New Hartford is led by sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="314094" first="Payton" last="Petersen"] who scores 18.8 points a game. Center Point-Urbana is led by senior Northern Iowa commit [player_tooltip player_id="63567" first="Ryley" last="Goebel"] with her 18.3 points per game average. This is the first meeting between these two programs.
