This capped off an impressive game and even more impressive career from Crooks while helping the Golden Bears bring home another state title this season. She is the real deal and everyone will see that next season for the Cyclones. She is a player who put up that stat line above while being double and triple teamed all night long on the offensive side of the floor. It was one of the most dominating performances I’ve seen in person in a long time. I’m assuming she is going to see the floor a good amount right away starting this winter up in Ames and for good reason. Until someone shows that they can consistently stop her from scoring the ball, I would try to put her in favorable positions with her back near the hoop. This should lead to a good amount of successful for Crooks and her team. She will have to adapt to the college life style and game-speed but after the first few weeks I expect her to have some consistent production for Iowa State in her freshman year.

Her size, hand-eye coordination, touch on the basketball, and ability to pass have always spoken for themselves and they did just that this past week, leading her Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears to one more state championship with Crooks on the roster. In every game Crooks was unstoppable. She played her role, rebounded the ball really well and it ended in success for her team. In the championship game she scored a game high 49 points, showing her complete offensive arsenal in the post. During this run she also set the all time scoring record during the state tournament, an accomplishment that is going to be really hard to try to break for anyone moving forward. Crooks will join up with the cyclones next season, showing not just the state of Iowa but the entire BIG 12 conference that she is going to be a dominate force near the basket over the next few seasons.

Crooks had 18 points in the first half to help her team cruise to a big lead while all of her teammates around her were knocking down three’s at a high rate. If the guards for this Bishop Garrigan team make open shots, they will be your 1A class state champs before the end of this evening. In the Semi’s Audi was double teamed at all times, much like a triangle-and-2 defense but with one player face guarding her in the post and one behind her in the post. This was an interesting strategy that did not work to well as her teammates still managed to get her the ball by just lobbing at up at the right moments, leading to an easy layup multiple times. Once the opposing team brought a third defender, Crooks would pass out to an open three pointer, which they hit at a high rate giving her a good amount of assists throughout the game. Something that isn’t new to Crooks or this team.

Crooks poured in a game high 35 points on 17/20 shooting, showing off her efficiency near the rim. This was a situation where BG recognized that their post is the best player in the state and they are going to feed her until they can’t anymore, which has been their recipe all year long, leading them to an overall 21-1 record up until this point. Crooks and company are the 1A favorites to win it all. They have been since last season and that isn’t going to change unless somehow they lose, which I don’t see happening. Crooks is the headliner of this team in the papers but this group has some impressive PLAYERS. Some individuals who are going to have the chance in the future to also play some high-end college ball in their own right. I’m interested to see the strategies of coaches against the Golden Bears. If they slow down Crooks everyone else would step up so it’s sort of a lose/lose for other teams but anything can happen so we will just have to wait and see.

Crooks, the Iowa State women commit and #1 ranked player in the 2023 class in Iowa, has been doing her usual work on the floor this season for Bishop Garrigan high school on the way to an overall 16-1 record, with their only lose coming to Hopkins high school in an out-of-state contest that tipped of their season. Thus far she is leading the 2023 class in scoring with a combined 525 total points scored, bringing her points per game total to an overall 31. An insane number if she were to end the season this way, which is more than possible at this rate. She is also grabbing just about 13 rebounds and 3 assists per game for the Golden Bears. It’s to no surprise that this is the season Crooks is having right now as many people were expecting this taking into effect the class and competition level that has been placed across from her this season and in years past. I anticipate that she will be seeing the floor immediate at Iowa State and will be apart of their “long-term” game plan as a program. It’s not every day that you get to work with a player like Audi at any level so it’s going to be excited what the Cyclones program can put together with all the talent they have coming in from the Iowa-side over the next few seasons.

Crooks has been the player that everyone expected this year once again by filling up the bucket, altering opponents shots, and dishing the rock off to her teammates when the other team shows too much help and she can’t get an open look. Match-up wise there isn’t anyone in the entire state of Iowa who could guard Crooks, throughout any class so it’ll be interesting to see what other teams do to stop this group once the playoffs begin. It’s a very challenging task because one of the best facets of Crooks game is her ability to pass out of the post and find an open teammate, so when teams bring too much pressure down in the post, it shouldn’t be a problem as this group has a good amount of weapons that can all score at a high rate. When you put any decent player on a team like this they are going to be in a favorable position to succeed but when you put one of the best players in the country with a team like this, you keep winning state championships.

To begin this season her high school team went out of state to play a tournament and see what it would be like against some different competition. This strategy seemed to pay off as they lost their first game by double digits and haven’t lost since. Under the leadership of Crooks it will be hard for anyone in the state of Iowa to step up and beat Bishop Garrigan this season at the 1A level. Crooks comes into break leading the state in PPG and FGM as she is unstoppable down low in the post. A big part of her game is her ability to pass the ball to an open teammate on the outside when she is receiving too much attention and she’s really been showing that off this season up until this point. The only way that I see this team losing a game this year will be if they do it to themselves because if they just all do their jobs and play as a unit, they are almost unbeatable. You never know though, anything can happen once that ball is tipped so you always have to be ready.

Throughout the first four weeks the Iowa State women’s basketball commit is leading the state in scoring and in field goals made. This is an impressive feat in itself but how she also gets other’s involved with her passing is what really stands out. She understands where her open teammate will be from previous game experience and just being an overall baller who really understands the game. She is still scoring at will and sometimes even over some double and triples teams in certain situations. I expect her to finish out the year as the scoring leader in the state overall and take her talents to the next level where she will be an instant impact for the Iowa State Cyclones, who will be losing a good amount of talent but also have a stand-out incoming freshman class so any thing is possible.
