Last week we took a look at the top 5 leading scorers’ for the WDA conference which included Amya Gourneau from Turtle Mountain, [player_tooltip player_id="100419" first="Logan" last="Nissley"] from Century, [player_tooltip player_id="342164" first="Maggie" last="Fricke"] representing Minot, [player_tooltip player_id="196272" first="Peyton" last="Neumiller"] from Bismarck High and lastly [player_tooltip player_id="100420" first="Bergan" last="Kinnebrew"] also from Century. In this article we’ll discuss all new names as we dive into our leading rebounders for the conference and how each player is individually aiding their team to success. [player_tooltip player_id="238455" first="Anthonett" last="Nabwe"] - Jamestown - (5’10/PF/2022) - A familiar face on our list. Nabwe currently leads the league with both total rebounds at 82 and rebounds per game at 14. There’s a whole lot to say about Nabwe’s game, but to sum it up shortly she’s a pure paint beast! She has quick feet and great strength to plow her way to the offensive glass. She honestly reminds me of an old fashioned Power Forward that can hit a mid-range shot consistently and has great footwork and speed in beating slower defenders to the hoop. Anthonett has had a double-double in 6 of the 7 games played thus far. She’s a one woman wrecking ball and a must watch if you haven’t seen her in action yet. [player_tooltip player_id="245588" first="McKenna" last="Johnson"] - Mandan - (6’2/C/2025) - A fairly new face on the block and for good reason. McKenna is a 6’2 freshman who flat out knows her role. She’s not just long and lengthy, but has some actual size her to and meat on her bones. She’s mobile and plays solid help side defense. Currently she’s second in the rebounding race averaging 13.6 per game. Her highest tally was 19 this year in a loss to Bismarck High. Johnson is a player coaches need to know in the coming years as she’s only going to progressively get better with age. Katie Falk - Jamestown - (5’8/SF/2023) - Katie is a great complimentary rebounder to [player_tooltip player_id="238455" first="Anthonett" last="Nabwe"]. Whatever Nabwe can’t grasp in her claws Katie is mostly there to run and grab it. Falk does a phenomenal job crashing offensively weather that’s actually grabbing the basketball or ripping it from the other teams hands. Falk averages just over 10 rebounds a game and 3 offensive boards per match within that. She’s not a player that will absolutely you offensively, but is a quiet scorer and before you know it has 10 on the board. If nothing I encourage you to watch a Jamestown High game and just watch how scrappy those girls truly are. [player_tooltip player_id="219713" first="Jessica" last="Mogen"] - Watford City - (5’9/SF/2024) - Mogen is the glue that holds this Wolves team together and doesn’t allow them to completely fall apart. A unfortunate start to the year after losing several solid players to graduation Watford City is still trying to figure out pieces. One piece that’s for sure figured out is [player_tooltip player_id="219713" first="Jessica" last="Mogen"]’s. She’s the total package when it comes to a hustle player. She leads the Wolves in scoring, rebounding and assists per game. Mogen currently averages 14.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. As only a sophomore she has a lot of growing to do in the future and hopefully this time next year as the Wolves howling again. Jaxsyn Delorme - TMCHS - (5’11/PF/2022) - Jaxsyn is an underrated player in my opinion. She’s not a bright burning star that everyone follows and aspires to be like, but rather paves her own path and limits mistakes. She’s consistent which every player needs to be like. Currently she averages just around 10 points per game and 7.5 rebounds. Delorme has the least amount of turnovers per game for the Bravettes with just around 1. Jaxsyn doesn’t force the effort or make mental mistakes on the court and that’s why I think she’s a steal for college coaches at the next level.
