I don’t like watching games unless they’re live, simply because I enjoy being out and about and I love taking my own pictures at games. The announcing also drives me crazy with misinformation and with erroneous rosters staying prevalent as well move into yet another decade, it’s irritating but I caught 4 games, would have been more had it not been for technical difficulties, including one that I was actually going to drive to, Pearland wins and is tied for 1st place in the district with Shadow Creek, so I still came out on top and speaking of TOP, 5 players are in my Top 100 so here ya go
2022
[player_tooltip player_id="314168" first="Aryelle" last="Stevens"]-6’0 PF/C (Pearland) @AryelleStevens
Stevens is unsigned as well as the other 2022 Top 100 players yet you won’t find a harder worker and that was apparent last night as she scored 15 points to lead all scorers, that was a plus from the play by play, and she probably was near a double-double yet her sheer presence on the court, her desire to battle for everything trickles down to her teammates but she showed finishes with players literally hanging on as well well as the soft-touch facing the basket not to leave out her defense
[player_tooltip player_id="135363" first="R’Mani" last="Taylor"]-5’8 PG (Shadow Creek) @rmani_taylor1
Taylor is one of the top not only UNSIGNED point guards in Texas but top point guards period and watching her control the tempo over the years has been a plus, for me and she did a good job of igniting her team, especially down the stretch as they made a ferocious comeback to close the gap to one possession late in the game. Her blistering passes on the money as well as her acrobatic finishes were there, so was her handling the ball in the press and showing quick hands to create turnovers
[player_tooltip player_id="265532" first="Brooklin" last="BROWN"]-5’10 SG (Shadow Creek) @brook_b22
Brown has been under the radar since I met her and she’s definitely one of the top UNSIGNED players in Texas yet plenty of buzz has been happening and after last night’s clutch performance, the buzzing sounds are getting louder. She’s long and pathetic, started off facilitating yet remained relevant last night with her rebounding, defense as well as shot-blocking, and watching her play the passing lane is always a treat for me because she can handle the ball and either score or see the floor after the steal yet her deep three pointers, that’s multiple and NBA range, during the stretch, helped closed the double-digit gap to one possession
2023
[player_tooltip player_id="96125" first="RyLee" last="Grays"]-6’1 PF/C (Pearland) @DunkingBeauty
Grays has no grey area on what she continues to show as far as her upside which is scary as I’ve seen her add numerous aspects to her game over the years. She’s strong, finishes and rebounds with power as well as authority yet watching her grab the rebound and ignite the break herself was a new twist especially as she handled the ball under pressure and made the right passes on the break yet her interior dominance was definitely a factor in Pearland coming out on top
[player_tooltip player_id="134034" first="Janae" last="Tucker"]-5’7 PG (Pearland) OUT

Tucker deserves a special S/O and to be perfectly honest if she had NOT torn her ACL, I truly believe this squad could make a legitimate run in the playoffs yet even without her, they’re going to be walking fast after coming away with this big win

2024

[player_tooltip player_id="158879" first="La’Niah" last="Thornton"]-5’9 SF (Pearland) @NiahThornton

Thornton wasn’t available for the Sandra Meadows Classic yet her availability was definitely a huge piece to her Oilers squad winning by dropping big buckets from outside as well as inside not to mention her pressure defense and rebounding on both ends of the court. She also continues to elevate her game but her playing within herself and understanding how to get hers in the flow is always huge
