Mercer County Tournament Quarterfinal Recap

The 2022 Mercer County Tournament is down to just four teams as the quarterfinals wrapped up this weekend. We wanted to break down the action for you and tell you who stood out in the four quarterfinal games. So, here is our PGH NJ recap of the quarterfinals of the Mercer County Tournament. <strong>Ewing 68, Princeton 28</strong> Ewing (19-1) has not backed down one bit as the best of the best in Mercer County as the top-seeded Blue Devils advanced to the semis with a dominant 20-point win. You’ve heard of the stars on this team and the trio of [player_tooltip player_id="325195" first="Rhian" last="Stokes"], [player_tooltip player_id="325184" first="Joi" last="Johnson"] and Te’Yala Delfosse scored 63 of Ewing’s 68 points in the game. Stokes led the Blue Devils with 25 points in the win, her seventh such 20+ point game on the year and third-straight game with 17 points or more. Johnson, had her 18th double-double of the season and Delfosse had her 10th. Three players scored six or more points for Princeton (9-9) as Riley Devlin led the way with a team-high seven points. <strong>Pennington 57, Allentown 46</strong> Allentown (13-8) carried a one-point lead into the fourth quarter after being up 25-21 at halftime and it looked like they were on their way to a semifinal appearance after seemingly controlling the entire game. However, Pennington (20-3) and its leading scorer, MK Kramli, out-scored Allentown 19-7 in the fourth to win by 11. Kramli was one of three Pennington scorers in double-figures, leading the team with 14 points and nine rebounds on the day. Morgan Kotch and Morgan Matthews each had 12 points and seven rebounds in the win. <strong>Notre Dame 37, Robbinsville 31</strong> Robbinsville (13-9) tried to keep it close against a very sound Notre Dame team and made a tough comeback in the fourth quarter, out-scoring the Irish, 11-4. However, Notre Dame’s (16-5) hot start and dominant third quarter proved to be the difference in the end. Nicole Villalta-Barrantes led the Irish with 10 points in the win, one of seven different scorers overall. Halle Besler and Simone Pintinalli were excellent from beyond the arc, combining for three made three-pointers on the day. Allie Neumann and Vanessa Sabol carried Robbinsville with nine and eight points, respectively, in a losing effort. <strong>Highstown 43, Hopewell Valley 16</strong> The dominance of Kyle Glasser-Hyman was the difference-maker in this game for Highstown (20-5), scoring 20+ points for the 17th time this season. She’s been nothing short of an absolute beast on the floor for Highstown and as she goes, this team goes. There was no answer from Hopewell Valley (13-10) on the day, who scored just four points in the first half and couldn’t overcome the massive deficit once the second half came. Kennedy Havens was a bright spot for them in the loss, scoring seven points.
