I traveled long and far across the entire state of Georgia from the North to the South, East to West to see some of the most intriguing matchups throughout the state tournament. Now that I can finally catch my breath, here are some of the top performers I saw over the past month of the GHSA State Playoffs.
<strong>2023 6-3 F [player_tooltip player_id="154593" first="Veronica" last="Sierzant"] – Islands</strong>
Double-double machine averaged 21.6 points, 17.6 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. Had 19 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks in first round of state playoffs. Draws tons of fouls and cashes in from the foul line. Went 11-12 from charity stripe. Has a low crossover. Passes well overtop defenders. Likes to drive the ball and spin in the lane.
<strong>2022 6-0 F [player_tooltip player_id="372521" first="Macey" last="Ansell"] – Tattnall County</strong>
Worked her way into being a multi-time All-Region performer. Plays hard. Competes on the glass. Unorthodox shot. Will take and make outside jumpers with range to three-point line. High motor.
<strong>2022 6-2 C [player_tooltip player_id="311539" first="Allejah" last="Moultry"] – Beach</strong>
Enviable physical tools. Huge paint presence that has a strong body and great length. Gobbles up rebounds and swats away shots. Scores on putbacks. Has shown upside with a soft touch that is expanding. Has a quick spin move inside. Can be a plug-and-play rim protector at the right level.
<strong>2022 5-11 F [player_tooltip player_id="302946" first="Gracie" last="Deetz"] – Rabun County</strong>
Emmanuel-signee averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. Inside-out forward that shoots the three and mid-range. Sneaks onto the offensive glass for putbacks. Solid rim protector. Adding weight will help her at the next level.
<strong>2023 5-10 F Brenasia Faust – Elbert County</strong>
Unsung hero in Elbert County’s state title run. Rebounds and blocks shots. Tallest player on the roster anchors the interior of the defense. Scores on putbacks and dump offs.
<strong>2022 5-10 PF [player_tooltip player_id="311540" first="Aqoyas" last="Cody"] – Josey</strong>
Strong forward that gets it off the glass and can power through defenders to score inside. Moves well and can attack off the dribble and hit the baseline jumper.
