Post-season awards: All-Freshmen Team

It is a trend that simply cannot be ignored: girls high school basketball teams at the varsity level are getting younger every year. It used to be that seniority won out when coaches crafted a varsity lineup. Even if there were younger players who were more talented, more productive and more mature than their elders, they still had to wait their turn to play varsity. In many places that is still the case. Among the most successful programs, however, skills and abilities are now winning the day. Some of these players are not only the best players in their programs but they are among the best players in the state. Today we are recognizing some of those top performers with our 2022 Prep Girls Hoops All-Freshmen Team award along with a small group of 7th and 8th graders who have been stellar this season. Remarkably, 11 of these 36 players were among those already named to one of our All-State Teams selected by class, including four who earned 1st Team honors. We have put a star by their names below. Normally in our awards selections we give you a paragraph on all of the top performers. In this case all 10 have been chronicled in great detail already.
