Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey has updated its 2022 prospect rankings and there are 80 or so names for you now to scroll through. With roughly 30 new players added to the rankings list, we’re going to go in-depth on the newest additions. Here’s part one of our look at the newcomers to the list.
No. 76: [player_tooltip player_id="401180" first="Nurisha" last="Ferati"] - 5-7 SF, Secaucus
In one year, Ferati put up better scoring and rebounding totals than the previous three seasons combined. Her senior year was her breakout year for Secaucus, averaging 9.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 3.5 APG and 2.7 SPG. She also knocked down around 1.2 three-pointers a game for the Patriots, showing that she can shoot from deep, but also make plays happen down low. She turned into a potential deep threat for Secaucus, putting everything together in her final season.
No. 75: [player_tooltip player_id="401149" first="Emily" last="Little"] - 6-2 C, Wildwood
Little was very balanced over all for Wildwood, scoring all of her points inside the perimeter and at the foul line. Her 8.6/5 averages on the year were respectable for a center, but where she excelled the most was on the defensive side of the ball. Her 1.4 blocks a game and 1.2 steals a game were an impressive improvement from seasons previous. She’s got a great feel for the game and knows how to position herself well to cause havoc on the defensive end. That plays well for her moving forward.
No. 79: [player_tooltip player_id="401181" first="Olivia" last="Magee"] - 5-10 PF, West Deptford
Magee averaged 9.5 PPG in her final year at West Deptford, narrowly missing out on double-figures for the Eagles. She showed a lot of promise and improvement in her offensive game, especially how she chose to attack the rim. Her jump hooks and close-range jumpers were incredibly effective. As effective for Magee was her rebounding and defense as she’s shown that same level of aggression on defense as she has on offense.
No. 74: [player_tooltip player_id="401201" first="Jessica" last="Mastriano"] - 5-10 SG, Hunterdon Central
Mastriano back to full health this season after being limited to just six games as a junior, was a scoring machine for Hunterdon Central. The shooting guard averaged a career-high 13.5 PPG, scoring in double-figures for the first time in her career. It was an impressive showing as Mastriano altered her game to focus more on driving into the lane than shooting from the perimeter. Her three-point shooting output has decreased while her field goal scoring output has increased as well. Her free throw shooting has also improved as a result.
No. 72: [player_tooltip player_id="401134" first="Isabella" last="Orlando"] - 5-11 PF, Middletown South
Orlando had herself a fantastic three-point shooting barrage of a 2021-22 season, knocking down 46 on the year or 1.7 a game for Middletown South. Roughly 64 percent of her scoring came from beyond the arc, a slight decrease from previous seasons. While her scoring average as a whole dipped from the Covid-shortened spring season, she showed much more consistency shooting from three, which allowed her to be so successful overall. Her shooting motion was tweaked to be quicker and more compact, and the fluidity of her shot improved tremendously.
