Matriarch Classic: Post/Forward Standouts

There were some players that stood out from the post and forward positions. These players did a good job defensively, on the low block, operating out of the high post, rebounding, and making plays. Let's look at some the best players from the post/forward position at the Matriarch Classic. <strong>Cynara Robinson | Forward | AR Lady Rebles/McGhee | 2024</strong> Cynara is a good athlete with a solid skillset. She was an aggressive rebounder on both ends of the floor. She was a killer on the offensive boards and always positioned herself to be able to score when there was penetration. Defensively she was a great help defender. This led her to get blocked shots by rotating over from the weak side. Her athletic ability also allowed her to defend multiple positions. <strong>Sophie Tyson | Post/Forward | AR Blaze/Garret Memorial | 2023</strong> Sophie showed a lot of versatility while playing over the weekend. She may be a post player but she possesses some skills of a perimeter player. She can handle the ball and make plays for her teammates in the half-court or in transition. She can finish, runs the floor well, attacks the basket off the dribble, and is an on-target passer. Sophie can also make the open three-pointer if you leave her open. <strong>Tamia Yates | Post | MS Lady Hornets/Crystal Springs | 2023</strong> Tamia has good length and takes up a lot of space with her wingspan. She's a multi-sport athlete that can run the floor well. Tamia rebounds the ball well on both ends of the floor. Her knack for offensive rebounding often leads to her team scoring second chance points or easy putbacks for her. She also has the ability to push the ball in transition and control the paint on defense with her rebounding and shot blocking. <strong>Kate Nabholz | Post | AR Warriors/St. Joe | 2025</strong> Kate did a good job of holding down the post position for her Warrior team. She grabbed several rebounds on both ends of the floor. When she was aggressively going after offensive rebounds she was able to score a few putbacks while being fouled. She's a solid defender with the ability defend some on the perimeter. <strong>Kyla Harston | Post/Forward | Woodz Elite/East Poinsett County | 2025</strong> Kyla is one of those players that won't make a lot noise while on the court. She didn't get emotional. Doesn't get excited when she scores a bucket. She just goes on about her business like it's no big deal. But that doesn't mean she doesn't have any skill or potential. Kyla has a soft touch around the basket, rebounds the ball, and does what she needs to do to help her team win. She showed she can catch passes in traffic and finish around multiple defenders with either hand. <strong>Jaylen Findley | Post | AR Lady Rebels/Malvern | 2025</strong> Size, size, and more size. Standing around 6'3 or so, Jaylen understands she has size and used her body to her advantage. She has plenty of potential and hasn't even scratched the surface yet. As she continues to gain more skill around the basket she is going to be a nightmare for defenses. She already had players during the game trying to figure out how to slow her down. She rebounded, blocked and altered shots, and scored around the basket. <strong>Ceriah Evans | Post | AR Lady Rebels/North Little Rock | 2023</strong> Ceriah is another post player with a soft touch around the basket. She also has good size standing around 6'3 or so. She used her body well to get position on the low block to be able to turn over her left should for the easy bucket. She moved pretty good on defense, anticipating the next pass and being in position to provide help on the drive.
