This weekend was one of the last Triumph Region events in the PGH Circuit. Over the course of Saturday/Sunday at Mainland HS, I watched teams from the Southeast (and Illinois) compete in the Southeast Slam. Here is our 17U Second Team All-Tournament:
Karimah is an unsigned 2022 that can bring some much needed length or height to a college program. She stepped out and hit some three’s this weekend as her outside shots continues to get more consistent. Her ability to finish inside with that length makes her a threat from all three levels. She always plays hard and is always around the ball. Karimah will get up on the ball handler and looks to swat shots away on the interior, too.
I saw Alexia hit a ton of runners this weekend as one of the most athletic players in the gym. She is strong and has good size for her position. Her court vision was impressive as a tough two-man game with her and her Andrew Jackson teammate, Xaniya. Be on the lookout for these two as they have both been standouts at our events with really good chemistry and are flying under the radar.
Analyse is a really quick, shifty guard that plays with a high motor. She’s in the passing lanes and gets her hands on the ball on defense, and she has a quick release from all three levels that makes her tough to stop on offense. Her signature one-hand pass, unselfish play, and ability to penetrate and kick makes her one of the best PG’s in the Orlando area. I really liked her pull-up jumper game that made her a problem on the court.
Jayda showcased good footwork and a strong body that she used to her advantage. She finishes in the paint and rebounds it well with a lot of intensity going for a board. Her spin move inside was really tough to stop for opposing teams, and her outside shot is much improved as she becomes a serious offensive weapon. I liked her use of the glass inside, too.
This was my first time seeing Alla play, and I am surprised that I haven’t heard more about her. She has tremendous length which allowed her to pull down a ton of boards and block a bunch of shots. Her outside shot and just overall ability to score was impressive. Alla will be a big stock riser in the years to come in the 2024 class.
The Triumph Region of the PGH Circuit will head to Council Bluffs for PGH Live next weekend to join every region as part of the Live Evaluation Period.
