Friday Summer Camp Action In The Boro

MTSU summer camp pitted multiple high school teams from across the state against each other. Girls battled, refining their skills,building upon the work they have done on the circuit, and setting a solid foundation on what’s to come in November. The campus was filled with hoopers, competing at the AUG, the Rec Center, and the Murphy Center. Competition was fierce, games went to the wire. These early summer tilts provided hs coaches a little insight on what they needed to do to prepare for the upcoming season. PGH Tennessee was live on campus to take in some action. This is a three part micro-series update on what went on at MTSU. Location: Murphy Center The Lebanon Lady Blue Devils and Coffee County Lady Red Raiders battled it out. Coffee County came away with the win, but it was a tussle from the start. Coffee County had a great inside out game, knocking down 3s along the way to victory. The Gannon sisters, Chloe (Sr.,6’1) and Channah (So., 6’0) led a lethal Lady Red Raider attack. The high low action was at a premium and was tough to stop. The Lady Blue Devils of Lebanon fought back. Led by [player_tooltip player_id="245347" first="Finley" last="Tomlin"] (Sr.,5’7), the PG executed sets called by HC Cory Barrett. Finley hit a couple of clutch 3s to put them within reach. Big boards by [player_tooltip player_id="245341" first="Madison" last="Jennings"] (Sr.,5’11) and shots by Macie Jones (Sr.,5’9) kept the Lady Blue Devils within reach. Though they failed to hit a late bucket to score, the Lady Blue Devils showed resilience as they fought back. Keep an eye out on freshman sensation Tiara Spencer (Fr.,5’8). Played big minutes and was a fierce competitor throughout the game. Possesses a nice jumper and has the ability to get to the rack. The 5:00pm tilt saw the York Dragonettes vs. Page Lady Patriots. Great game under the Murphy Center lights. Early back and forth action, but the Dragonettes are just a special ball club. You could tell from just how they carry themselves, warm-up, and how they are collectively together, that this is a special group. Led by [player_tooltip player_id="408995" first="Reese" last="Beaty"] (So.,5’8) she led their charge knocking down shots from multiple levels. Her sister [player_tooltip player_id="285362" first="Gabby" last="Beaty"] (Sr.,5’8) dialed in from deep as well. [player_tooltip player_id="245318" first="Ellen" last="Leffew"] (Sr./5’9) contributed in multiple ways from being on the boards to knocking down shots to help secure the victory. The Lady Patriots of Page may have lost two dynamic guards in McKenzie Cochran and Lili Wilken, but they will be just fine as they will take their cues from shooting specialist Braley Bushman (Sr.,5’10) and wing Sadie Porter (Sr.,5’9). Two rising seniors who will be key components to a rising Lady Patriots attack.
