Presbyterian (SC) Team Camp – 2023 Hoop & Peach State Standouts

<p style="font-weight: 400;">As much talent as there was at the recent team camp hosted by South Carolina’s Presbyterian College, there was just as much that were from neighboring states.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">Presbyterian and its head coach Alaura Sharp hosted the one-day get-together on June 16. It utilized three courts to stage games – including its main gym at the Templeton Physical Education Center plus the Spring Student &amp; Fitness Center. A third court at nearby Thornwell hosted mostly junior varsity teams.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">We at Prep Girls Hoops also made the trip to the home of the Blue Hose for what was an exciting day of basketball. In addition to basketball, she has also showcased her athletic talents as a track and field participant as well as within cross country. She has been praised in Georgia high school basketball circles for being a proficient 3-point shooter and her accuracy from deep was on display at Thursday’s Presbyterian camp. In addition, she is skilled as a ball handler and can also get from one end of the floor to the other. The transition game is another element to her overall skillset that she excels at. She runs with FBC United The Family/Supreme Team 17U on the grassroots circuit and also won the first-ever Coed 3-point contest with Falcons 2025 boys player Landon Mealor.</p> <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/06/IMG_8199-scaled-crop-2557x1679-1655467997.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-447061" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/06/IMG_8199-scaled-crop-2557x1679-1655467997-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="286840" first="Kamryn" last="Grier"] – 2023 – Banks County HS</strong> – Grier is steering the Leopards in the right direction. At an even six feet, she presents plenty of problems for opponents in the frontcourt. That versatility near the rim enables her to find minutes either at the three or the four. Grier can corral rebounds on either end of the floor and those offensive boards can turn into two-point putbacks. She does not give up on a play and will find a way to put the ball through the hoop. The walking double-double that she is, she averaged as such in 2021-22 – 16.3 points and 11.8 rebounds to be exact. <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="385136" first="Maya" last="Robinson"] – 2023 – NC GBB Academy</strong> – Robinson shared team captaincy duties on last season’s team with one of the Eagles’ freshmen. She does not give up on a play and is a consistent threat to come away with steals. In addition, she will get creative with how she finishes at the rim – such as via a fadeaway from close range. Robinson plays primarily as a wing and is listed at 5-foot-9. She averaged 17 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per matchup this past season for the Eagles. Robinson is also coming off an impressive showing with Carolina All-Stars 2023 as part of the Triumph Region of the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. Ironically, one of her offers includes Presbyterian along with Gardner-Webb, North Carolina Central and UNC Greensboro.</p> <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/06/IMG_8186-scaled-crop-2223x1460-1655468166.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-447066" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/06/IMG_8186-scaled-crop-2223x1460-1655468166-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Joelle Davis – 2023 – NC GBB Academy</strong> – A transfer from nearby Durham Academy, she played in all 23 games in the 2021-22 season for the Cavaliers and averaged 12.5 points for a team that finished 14-9. A key element of what she can get accomplished is how accurate she can be from long range. In addition, she also does the things that do not always show up on a stat sheet – such as get ready to box out in case of an opponent’s missed free throw. Rebounds do show up on that stat sheet and she is gifted in that area of the game as well.</p>
