Continue ReadingThe NC Top 250 event was hosted last weekend in Charlotte, NC where athletes from across the state came to show off their abilities to perform against the best. Here are some of the standouts from the classes of 2025 and 2026 that you should certainly keep on your radar.
Christina Bowers took the ball coast to coast scoring on a jump shot in transition even battling through contact for the points. She was doing a little bit of everything for her team grabbing rebounds and pushing it up the court to guarding some players inside preventing them from scoring. She has been known as an excellent ball handler for years, and she showed how she can really expand the floor playing and guarding multiple positions.
Kynnedy Roberts was sneaky getting to the basket, and she was a pesky defender on the other end. She had a nice baseline drive making the tough shot over her opponents. She crashed the boards grabbing rebounds, too.
Keaton Olson Fine showed off her ability to shoot behind the arc. Playing on the wing, she did well finding her open teammates underneath the basket using some lob passes to get some points. She was aggressive on defense knocking the ball away from guards.
Sahlay Reid had a clutch blocked shot late in a game grabbing the steal and pushing it up the court. She filled the lanes scoring in transition being ready for the pass. She did well jumping into passing lanes, too.
Natalie Poole used her long strides to get to the hoop. She read the defense well waiting patiently for the opening in order to take it to the hoop. She drove downhill hard, and she had a nice pull up for some points.
Sophie Fritz took a rebound coast to coast using fakes to get her defenders away and scoring in transition. She ran the court well in transition being ready for the pass and bucket. She didn’t back down when guarding a post player on the block using her strength to derail the offense’s plans. She did well moving the ball around getting the pass on the block and seeing her opening or finding a teammate.
Highlights
Ma-Kaela Gidney was hustling on both ends of the court making plays on defense. She did well handling the ball around the perimeter and waiting for the right opportunity to drive hard to the basket or make a nice dish to her teammates. She got inside grabbing rebounds for her team, too.
Highlights
Melanie Edwards showed off her range shooting beyond the perimeter. She was ready for offensive rebounds and was willing to put it right back up to score some points. She did well looking ahead for the best pass to make to her teammate to get something going.
