Throughout the Spring, I was able to view a tremendous number of prospects from Indiana at a variety of tournaments. Being able to take that list and choose five who stood out was difficult at best, and with these girls being in the Class of 2022, they are still growing and developing their game. With that being said, below is a quick look at five individuals who I felt stood out among the rest based on their play and improvement. Diana Burgher, 2022, 6-0 F, North Harrison H.S. For the last year, I've had an inclination that Diana would eventually get to a point where she would catch up to her potential. Last Fall when I saw her, she was about 5-9, she was much more comfortable with her back to the basket, and she was just okay in the mid-post area. Now, nearly a year later, she has grown and could still be growing, she is handling the ball a lot more in open space, creating scores off the dribble, and she's very comfortable in the mid-post and even becoming comfortable around the perimeter. If she can make that full transition and be a tall, true wing, she has a chance to draw a great deal of Division-I interest and potentially become a Top-5 prospect in a deep 2022 class in Indiana. Samara Douglas, 2022, 5-9 F, Covenant Christian School Samara has always been a strong, physical, and athletic prospect with a good motor. Because of it, she has always had success against her peers, but she needed to add more of a face-up game. This Spring she has shown a much more consistent perimeter game, handling the ball in transition from time to time, attacking off the dribble, and even knocking down the occasional 3-pointer. By her creating offensive versatility in her game, she has really increased her marketability, and if she can continue tightening her perimeter skillset, I think she'll start to see that pay off sooner rather than later. Kendall Harmon, 2022, 5-7 G, Bloomington H.S. South I've highlighted Kendall a couple of times already this Spring, and for good reason. The amount of growth she's shown in her game over the last year or so has been fun to watch. Before this Spring, the last time I remember seeing her, she was only about 5-4, she wasn't great off the bounce, and she was somewhat one-dimensional as a shooter. Now, she has really worked on her handle and is dynamic off the dribble, she's a good passer, she has grown and might still grow more, and she is a knockdown shooter with range beyond the 3-point line. There's a very good chance with the graduation of Addy Blackwell (2019) that Kendall can become Bloomington South's leading scorer next season. Kendall is a tremendously skillful guard who can fill it up. Teresa Maggio, 2022, 5-4 PG, McCutcheon H.S. Teresa is another 2022 I have touched on a few times this Spring. She is quick/fast, tough-nosed, and dynamic off the dribble, but it has been her ability to make shots from the perimeter at such a high rate that has really made her stand out this Spring. She is a dual-threat because she can both make shots and go by defenders, so it's difficult to defend her. I also like that she's starting to get really scrappy at the defensive end as well. Teresa was a Freshman this past season at Lafayette Jefferson High School, but her father informed me a couple of weeks back that she has transferred to McCutcheon High School, which is actually closer to home. Look for her to give them quite the boost this coming season. Jada Patton, 2022, 5-10 F, Penn H.S. I raved about Jada just a little over a week ago, but she also caught the eye of some college coaches and created a buzz at the event in Westfield. She is so strong and powerful, but she also has great balance and body control, she can handle the ball and create offense, and she is a monster on the boards with her length, strength, and bounce. I was really impressed with her all-around game, and while she might need to continue developing her skillset, she plays the right way, with a great motor, and she seems like she could fit into a lot of different systems at the next level, because ultimately she's a highly productive player.
