Fall Rankings Rundown: 2028 Shooting Guards

It's September, which means it's time for the rankings throughout the site to be updated. About a week ago we released the updated list of 2028 prospects, but I would like to turn my attention to the shooting guards in this article. Below is a list of those prospects with "shooting guard" listed as their primary position, followed by some attention for the newcomers, and a look at a couple of ladies who are on the rise.   .    NEWCOMERS:    Alaya is the younger sister of Asiah Baxter (WCHS 2023 / Ohio U. 2027), a Senior guard on the Bobcat's 2026-2027 team. Alaya began her career at Mount Vernon High School (Fortville) but is now at Warren Central. She is a strong, compact guard with good all-around athleticism. She's good upon attack and absorbs contact well, but she also possesses solid touch around the perimeter when set and in rhythm. The Warriors have several good guards, so I'll be interested to see what her role is this season.    .   STOCK-RISERS:    LeAnah has seen action in 49 of the Lady Bears 51 games during her first two seasons, and she has been able to grow alongside several uber-talented teammates. This year, however, it could be her turn to step up and be a top player for them. She has tremendous length, speed, quickness, and a quick first step. She is looking to shoot/score it on each catch, and she can get downhill in a blur. She is also a willing passer, plus she's a highly effective defender because of her physical traits and her toughness.     I'm sure you've seen Jhordyn's name on PGH a few times since the middle of July, and rightfully so. After averaging 10.1 points per game as a Sophomore, she is primed for a big Junior year. She has grown, gained strength, and she is much more confident and aggressive attacking the basket. She has always been a good perimeter shooter, but her added aggression to the basket has turned her into a much more complete and dangerous scorer. She has also defended with urgency lately, and she can be a high-level defender.     It always seems like Brownsburg has a player or two like Kadence who stand out because of their toughness, motor, and versatility. Kadence is strong, she's physical, and she doesn't mind making hustle plays all over the floor. She can defend and rebound inside a little, she's great in the mid-post, but she also has touch and solid ball skill around the perimeter. She thrives by playing off others, but you must keep track of her, or she will become a real weapon. She's an ideal small college "culture" type of kid who can play.     I've mentioned before that there are several 2028s at Hamilton Southeastern who are just awaiting their turn to affect the Varsity roster. Piper has actually already seen several quality minutes for the Royals, but this year she could step into more of a leadership role. She is a tough kid, a hard worker, and she doesn't play with flash or anything...she just works and gets the job done. She is skilled and can be a point forward, she can shoot/score it a little from each level, plus she'll defend and rebound with great effort.
