Basketball is right around the corner, earlier we took a look at the top EDC Rebounders returning, now let's dive into the top returning Rebounders and "Paint Protectors" in the WDA.

[player_tooltip player_id='245588' first='Mckenna' last='Johnson']: 6'2 F/C Mandan High 2025- The returning 2nd Team All-State Sophomore is coming back for her 3rd year of Varsity Basketball under Coach Shaun Henderson. Johnson led the WDA in Total rebounds last year as a freshman with 212/11.2RPG with 3 games at 21 rebounds and tying the school record 3x in her freshman year. On top of that she led the State with a whopping 83 Blocks/4.5BPG, including 10 in a single game vs TMCH. You can expect to see her leading the charge for the Braves in the paint this coming year and being the cause of trouble for teams.

[player_tooltip player_id='100464' first='Katie' last='Falk']: 5'8 F Jamestown 2023- Faulk was a big help for the Blue jays in the paint last year and it's safe to say she knows how to do her job around the block. Last year she pulled down 190 rebounds 10RPG, 19 deflections and pulled away 23 steals. You can expect Faulk to be the Blue jays go to player in the paint this coming year in her final campaign under Coach Skunberg. Faulk is aggressive, moves well and knows how to use her size/strength to get work done. This year she could really break out and be that key player Jamestown is leaning on.

[player_tooltip player_id='100419' first='Logan' last='Nissley']: 6' G Century 2023- We all know the name Nissley all too well, and for all the right reasons. The recent Cornhusker commit and returning 1st Team All-Stater will be returning for her final season as a Patriot and you can expect her to be coming down the court with the engine firing on all cylinders looking to return to the State Championship. We know Nissley is a big-time scorer in the WDA/State but she also knows how to do plenty of work in the paint and around the rim. Last year Nissley pulled down 188 Rebounds 9.8RPG, 56 deflections and added a whopping 67 steals. As for her up-coming year you can expect those numbers to rise just as they have the last 3 years. If you haven't seen her play, take the time to go watch, she is incredibly talented.

[player_tooltip player_id='219713' first='Jessica' last='Mogen']: 5'9 F Watford City 2024- Another known name in the WDA Mogen has many good skills in her bag and uses them all very well. This year could be a huge year for Mogen to really get her name out and get looked at and will be the focal point for the Wolves Offense and Defense. The All-Conference forward had an impressive Sophomore year as she pulled down 182 rebounds/7.5RPG, accounted for 23 Blocks and 44 steals as well. I think it's easy to say she isn't only an offensive threat, but she knows how to protect the paint as well. I'm excited to see what she is going to do this year; she is loaded with talent and consistently gets better every time I see her.
