Here are some standouts from the game:
Meena Tate Meena Tate 5’11” | SG Iowa City West | 2023 State IA is an impressive all-around player with a knack for making clutch plays. She’s a dangerous outside shooter that’s willing to drive to the basket when there’s an opening. If the defense collapses on her, she’s excellent at finding open teammates. She’s a vocal leader that keeps her teammates on task.
Highlights
Lacy is an all-around athlete that excels on the court whether it be in volleyball or basketball. She’s tough as nails in hoops, locking down on defense and driving hit hard to the hole. She displays nice form on her outside shot even though it wasn’t falling on this night.
The steady Trojan senior melds an impressive skill set with a high basketball IQ. She understands where to be and when to be there. She powers up strong to the basket from the post and also features an effective mid-range game. She’s a tenacious rebounder, pulling down a game-high 14 caroms in this contest.

Fincham does not play like a freshman. She’s confident and aggressive while remaining under control. I was most impressed with her willingness to bang in the paint and rebound. She pulled down the game’s final board to secure victory. She handles it well and shows nice form on her shot.
Barney is one of my favorite area players to watch. She’s always playing fast but under control. She handles it at a high level and finishes at the rim through contact. She delivers precise passes to open teammates and guards tenaciously on the ball.
Meyer helped the Lightning building a first-half lead with her success from the outside. Her range stretching beyond the arc makes her a tough matchup with her length. She’s very skilled for her height on both ends of the floor.
