Malea Williams has multiple D1 offers and Morgan DeFoor is already committed to Morehead State. Sophomore Timothi Williams hopes to be the next to join the long list of Scott County players to make the next level. The 5’7 guard can play on or off the ball and is looking to make a statement with a much bigger role in her Sophomore season. Williams told me, “I’m a team oriented player that likes to do whatever is needed to help my team win.”
Winning is a tradition at Scott County and Timothi is looking forward to a bigger role in her second season of varsity action. As a Freshman, Williams played in 35 of 36 games, averaging 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds. WIlliams reflected on her freshman year at Scott County, “High School season went well. I was fortunate enough to play on a veteran team that were receiving a lot of college attention. We played in state tournament, losing in second round.” Next year she’ll be counted on to step into a much bigger role. Part of getting ready for that is strengthening her weaknesses on the court. She told me that she is really working to improve her off the dribble shooting and being engaged on defense at all times. Timothi is also working to make her strengths even stronger. She told me, “My strengths are shooting from the perimeter and getting my teammates involved on offense.”
Part of getting ready for next season is a big AAU season, playing against top competition. Timothi is playing with Kentucky Premier this season and told me that she’s really enjoying the season, “AAU has gone well. It’s fun playing with so many other talented players across the state and playing in front of college coaches.” Part of playing with Premier is the increased exposure that comes with playing for them. So far, that exposure has netted Williams some early interest and mail from some colleges along with elite camp invites but she hasn’t gotten her first college offer yet.” Whether any offers come her way this summer or not, Timothi is focused on become a better player for Scott County and increase her leadership role on the team. Williams told me, “Individually, I just want to be a better leader and continue to work hard. I know if I do those things everything else will fall in place for me.”
