Look out for Payton to bring immediate impact play for this 17U squad. Payton is one of the top PF prospects in the 2026 cali class and for good reason. She is an absolute problem to guard around the basket; uses her body well to create space, isn’t afraid of contact, has multiple efficient moves (drop step, spin both ways) and counters to score. She plays with different paces and is comfortable playing with her back to basket or facing up. Absolute monster on the glass + has developing ability to push and attack off the bounce. Would not be surprised to see her stock shoot up this spring/summer.

Chaminade Prep transfer, Payton Montgomery Payton Montgomery 6'0" | PF Sierra Canyon School | 2026 State CA , finished well at the rim despite Ontario’s elite size and length. Relentless rebounder who can play her role to perfection. Boxes out very well and limits any height advantage of opposing bigs. She is physical inside, but light on her feet as well. Payton could’ve been more aggressive offensively, but she played her heart out and is a name to know in the 2026 class!

During the offseason, Montgomery decided to transfer from Chaminade to the powerhouse that is Sierra Caynon. During her lone varsity season for the Chaminade Eagles, Montgomery averaged 16.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. The 6’0 power forward finished the season with six double-doubles and led the Eagles to a 16-11 record. Montgomery was an efficient scorer in her sophomore season, shooting 52% from the field and 69% from the free throw line. Although Montgomery will be sharing the ball more on a stacked Sierra Caynon roster, she’s going to capitalize on the spacing that will result from the many different threats the Trailblazers have.
