After driving for 5 hours on the highway to get to this Elite Camp, I could not help but think, what is in store for the girls today as they embark on this journey. You cannot help but think again, that they are going to meet the coaching staff for Fresno State University for the first time and build some type of relationship with them on this trip. I pull up to the school parking lot next to the gym, get out and purchase my parking pass, you know if you do not spend the $4 for the parking pass, you get a ticket from their patrol for about $40. I go back to the car and put the pass on the dashboard, shut my car door and head up to the gym. The Staff started to warm up the girls with some light exercise and stretching techniques on the floor to get the girls moving and ready to compete in some fundamental drills. The staff broke the girls up into groups and started the drill session of the camp, the bigs utilized the mikan drill, the guards and forwards worked on dribbling drills. The kids were all engaged and the staff was pretty pleased with the efforts of the kids on the floor. We appreciate the hospitality they showed us at the camp, we even got a chance to talk with the Head Coach Jaime White and hear what her philosophy for her team was going to take on this year. The assistants were great as well in Mandi Carver and Shannon Bush, both of them ran the drills very well and kept the kids engaged at the camp. We intend on attending their Elite Camps in the future.
