That contest featured the host Grizzlies taking on a Southside Christian team that prior to Tuesday evening’s play had only lost two games this season – and both losses were against the same opponent in Fountain Inn.
A team not named the Fury was responsible for getting the Sabres in the loss column this time as High Point Academy dealt the Sabres its worst loss of the season by point differential. The result was 77-43 in the Grizzlies’ favor.
Interesting Facts from Tuesday
The Grizzlies have one of the larger and more plush venues in South Carolina by the standards of a 1A school. As far as the game itself was concerned, both of the Bracebridge sisters managed to be part of the starting lineup.
How Things Progressed
One would have figured if any region opponent could give the Grizzlies, that once again look like one of the top 1A squads, a run for its money, it would be a team like a Southside Christian. High Point Academy led from wire to wire and began the matchup with a 13-0 run to put plenty of distance between themselves and the Sabres.
Southside Christian made a bit of a run later in the first quarter as it was 17-7 at one point. Replace the one with a two and one will get the score at the end of the first quarter as it was 27-7 Grizzlies after one frame.
That lead became 45-15 at halftime and later was 64-30 following three frames. At this point, it was not a question of which team would win the game, but how large would the margin if victory be for High Point Academy.
That answer was 34 points.

For the Sabres, Ansley Becks was the team’s leading scorer with 14 points. Among her made attempts from the field included a couple of 3-pointers – two of three that Southside Christian made as a team.
It was an 11-point effort for London Rhodes, the team’s junior center. The Sabres made a total of six free throws for the game. Three of those made tries from the charity stripe left Rhodes’ hands.
Milestones
Following the game, both Beason as well as Vivian Bracebridge Vivian Bracebridge 5'6" | SG High Point Academy | 2023 State SC were honored for reaching lofty career milestones.
