The NBA Draft has become a huge event. It’s the type of made for TV drama that people set their schedule around so they can watch. The drama is intense, as people see their dreams come true. Meanwhile, professional teams decide the future of their franchise. The draft influences how they build their team. What if Michigan’s class of 2020 was picked in the same way that the NBA Draft occurs? Who would go number 1? Who would be a lottery pick? Well, 5 basketball minds got together and did a 1 round draft of the talented players in Michigan’s class of 2020. THE LOTTERY #1: Gabrielle Elliott (Wing, DEPSA) The generational type player you build around. Elliott would be this drafts Zion Williamson. #2: [player_tooltip player_id="23748" first="Whitney" last="Sollom"] (F/C, Hartland) Using the 2nd pick to get an elite big with excellent footwork makes sense. Sollom would be an anchor for a team. #3: [player_tooltip player_id="126237" first="Daija" last="Tyson"] (PG, DEPSA) If you want a fast and electrifying point guard, Tyson makes sense at 3. #4: Makailah Griggs-Ziegler (Wing, Wayne Memorial) Griggs-Ziegler is a big physical wing. She’ll score from the perimeter and board in the paint. #5: Kenzie Lewis (PG, Williamston) Lewis would provide a team with an efficient lead guard and a dangerous shooter. #6: [player_tooltip player_id="126233" first="Jasmine" last="Clerkley"] (F, Okemos) Clerkley is a physical forward and would provide a team with an instant presence. #7: [player_tooltip player_id="2516" first="Shaulana" last="Wagner"] (SG, DEPSA) Wagner at 7 may be the best pick of the draft. She’s got superstar potential. #8: [player_tooltip player_id="126235" first="Cheyenne" last="McEvans"] (G, Southfield A&T) McEvans would provide a team with a smooth moving guard that runs the floor well. #9: [player_tooltip player_id="23749" first="Aaliyah" last="Nye"] (Wing, East Lansing) Nye is an athletic wing that can run the wing and fill the lane in transition. #10: [player_tooltip player_id="126236" first="Aaliyah" last="McQueen"] (CG, Flint Carman Ainsworth) McQueen is a versatile guard that can play on or off the ball. #11: [player_tooltip player_id="23755" first="Sophie" last="Dziekan"] (C, Brighton) One of the top post players in the draft at 11 is a great value pick. #12: [player_tooltip player_id="23753" first="Elise" last="Stuck"] (G, Charlevoix) This is a great spot to pick up a game changing shooter. #13: [player_tooltip player_id="126238" first="Lamariyee" last="Williams"] (G, River Rouge) It’d be nice to pick up an electric ball handler and 3 level scorer at #13. #14: [player_tooltip player_id="23751" first="Cameron" last="Grant"] (G/F, Macomb Dakota) Grant is a steal at 14. She might be the most versatile player in the draft. REMAINDER OF THE 1ST ROUND #15: [player_tooltip player_id="126244" first="Dani" last="Salenbien"] (PG, Adrian Lenawee Christian) #16: [player_tooltip player_id="126239" first="Hannah" last="Spitzley"] (SF, Pewamo-Westphalia) #17: Maddie Voelker (SG, Goodrich) #18: [player_tooltip player_id="126241" first="Kaylee" last="Wendel"] (G/F, Howell) #19: [player_tooltip player_id="23771" first="Becca" last="Morrish"] (C, Flushing) #20: [player_tooltip player_id="126242" first="Kadyn" last="Blanchard"] (G, Freeland) #21: [player_tooltip player_id="126249" first="Morgan" last="Thompson"] (C, Northville) #22: [player_tooltip player_id="126245" first="Sanaya" last="Gregory"] (PG, East Lansing) #23: [player_tooltip player_id="126252" first="Teagan" last="Haynes"] (PG, Michigan Center) #24: [player_tooltip player_id="126256" first="Tarryn" last="Brooks"] (C, Detroit Henry Ford Academy) #25: [player_tooltip player_id="23762" first="Carlee" last="Crabtree"] (G/F, Coldwater) #26: [player_tooltip player_id="126247" first="Jasmine" last="Edwards"] (Wing, John Glenn) #27: [player_tooltip player_id="23792" first="Alize" last="Tripp"] (CG, Michigan Center) #28: [player_tooltip player_id="126248" first="Jolee" last="Houle"] (G, Grand Haven) #29: [player_tooltip player_id="126246" first="Jozie" last="Bontrager"] (F, Jackson Northwest) #30: [player_tooltip player_id="126253" first="Lolo" last="Reed"] (PG, Saginaw Heritage)
