Analysis: When a team graduates one of the most dominant offensive players in the state and the most statistically accomplished scorer in school history, that typically means they'll be taking a step back the next season. That's not the mindset of Clarkston's head coach, the team, and it isn't how I see this 2026 season playing out either. The Wolves have graduated key players from their starting lineup before, and the team's next generation of talent always seems ready to step into those shoes. Clarkston has won at least 18 games in the past three years, including two straight OAA Red Division Championships and three straight Regional Final appearances. In 2025-26 the Wolves finished 19-7 (8-2 conf.), securing a shared Red Division title with Stoney Creek. In 2024-25, Clarkston finished 18-8 (9-1 conf.) to win the division outright. They won 19 games again in 2023-24, a district title, and lost to state title runner-up Grand Blanc 44-42 in a Regional Final. 2024-25 saw the Wolves win another district title before losing a 47-42 classic to OAA Red foe and State Semifinalist West Bloomfield in the Regional Final. The 2025-26 season saw the Wolves make a third trip to a Regional Final, this time losing to State Semifinalist Utica Eisenhower 74-69. You can't replace Elli Robak with one player, but adding three 2030 prospects to the roster ranked in the top 30 certainly helps. Clarkston has talent, depth, and upperclassmen with valuable regular season and playoff experience. They'll be the favorite to win the league again and there's no reason to count them out from making another deep run in the postseason next March.
