Top Ranked 2A teams as post-season play approaches

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here I will be previewing the top ranked teams in the 2A classification that could go far in the state tournament. The rankings I will be looking at is the WIAA RPI rankings. Here are some 2A teams to watch for.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ellensburg 19-0 (11-0 league)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ellensburg is just talented in so many ways. They could beat any team in the state, in any classification. They have the best senior in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='115393' first='Olivia' last='Anderson']. She's ranked nationally on ESPN within the 2023 class and had many Division 1 offers to choose from. She will be staying local and attending the University of Washington. She scores at all 3 levels so smoothly and is extremely fun to watch on the court. [player_tooltip player_id='115407' first='Rylee' last='Leishman'] is another senior who contributes to this team. Rylee is one of the teams top playmakers. She always is sharing the ball with her teammates for easier shots for them. She has a solid shot herself and can get to the bucket well too. She has done well in a bigger role for this Ellensburg team who is looking to go back to back.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sequim 18-0 (14-0 league)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sequim is a team who has dominated their own league and didn't have many non-league games that were too challenging for the team. With that being said, starting off 18-0 and not losing a league game is insanely impressive for any team. Junior Jolene Vaaera has been a big time offensive player for Sequim, stepping up when another key player senior Jelissa Julmist was injured. She's back from injury now, but other teammates around her are picking up the slack. Hannah Bates is a fantastic facilitator on the court, dishing out 10+ assists multiple times. Taryn Johnson and Bobbi Mixon are other key role players who help out this Sequim team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Lynden 17-3 (12-2 league)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lynden is a team who is involved late in the season every single year. They are extremely well coached and the whole city of Lynden always produces basketball talent. The Lions are led by seniors Chole Whittenberg and Adia Newcomb. Juniors Mallary Villars and Haylee Koetje are also big contributors for the Lions. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='584239' first='Payton' last='Mills'] has been a key addition to this squad, adding a lot to the teams post play. They have losses against a very good Nooksack Valley team, Burlington-Edison who is also a top 10 team in the class, and Meadowdale which was a 30+ point loss and one the Lions wish they could play again. They have solid wins over Lake Stevens and WF West with a matchup against Lynden Christian still looming.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>WF West 16-3 (10-1 league)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>WF West lost one league game to a solid Tumwater team, who they had beaten by almost 20 earlier in the season. They lost back to back match-ups against Sehome and Lynden during a tournament around Christmas time. This WF West team is INSANELY young. They have 1 senior and are led by 2 sophomores, Julia Dalan and [player_tooltip player_id='502371' first='Amanda' last='Bennett']. Dalan is dominate down low and not many opposing players are able to match-up well against her. She is patient and lets the game come to her, which is impressive for only being a sophomore. Bennett is a guard who can score at will, facilitate the offense, and shoot the ball well. This is a team who could be involved late in the playoffs for a couple years straight.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sehome 15-4 (11-4 league)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sehome did not lose a non-league game this season, having wins over WF West, Mountlake Terrace, and Port Angeles. The one thing that the Mariners have struggled with is keeping up with the top teams within the Northwest Conference, which just so happens to have some of the top teams in the state. Sehome dropped games to Nooksack Valley, Lynden, Lynden Christian, and an early season loss to Burlington-Edison. The Mariners were a solid team last year and brought back some key role players who are contributing nicely. Senior Madison Hogan contributes on the court and brings leadership and experience to this team. Juniors Madi Cooper and Emmy Hart have been leading this Mariner team in scoring all year, each of them able to drop 20 any given night. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
