Continue ReadingA 15-point explosion in the second quarter prompted East Forsyth to take a lead they would never relinquish. Holbrook caught fire by hitting two consecutive threes before getting downhill with floaters. The Piedmont-signee was a foul magnet going 9-14 at the charity stripe. Ella does a good job using her body to spin off defenders. She also shined as a playmaker, finding open teammates on the block and around the three-point line. Holbrook added 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 1 block.
Rosebush stole the show in the second half by scoring 15 of her 21 points in the Broncos’ 67-58 win over North Hall. The Trojans kept losing track of Adeline on the backside, catching passes over the top of the defense and behind them for easy layups. Rosebush collected some key offensive rebounds, grabbing six total boards. She had a nice left-handed hook and scored on a short drive with her off-hand as well.
Rylee Thompson
Rylee Thompson
I loved how Rylee Thompson played. She did an exceptional job of getting to the rim. The southpaw uses both hands well, able to drop in floaters with either. She had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Her energy and nose for the ball paid major dividends. She balanced her attack by hitting a corner three.
Athena has a really good future. She’s long and wiry but already has lean muscle on her frame. She moves very well as an athletic slasher. Vachtsevanos can hit the three both off the dribble and catch. She sank four long balls while mixing in cuts to the hoop. Athena posted 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
The Birmingham-Southern signee showed a lot of heart after attempting to draw a charge and smashing the back of her head against the ground. Shoemaker returned for the start of the third quarter and provided a lift with a pair of threes. She netted three total and finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. I love how often she sacrifices her body on defense and how versatile of a defender she is with her length. She’s a 3&D at the next a level.
It was a slog after a nine-point first quarter for Riley Black Riley Black 5’8″ | CG Chestatee | 2024 State GA , scoring just two points over the next 16 minutes as East Hall threatened, but in the final period when it mattered most, the Region Player of the Year found a way to take over and get the job done. Black scored 10 of Chestatee’s 15 fourth quarter points as the Lady War Eagles survived the Vikings 56-53. Riley went 8-10 from the line in the fourth including going 3-4 on one-and-one opportunities in the last 23.8 seconds. Black’s downhill assault not only resulted in trips to the foul line, but she found great success as a playmaker, hitting teammates on the block once the defense stepped up to stop her. Riley recorded 21 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block, guiding her team to gutty win.
Through three quarters, Caroline Bull Caroline Bull 5’5″ | PG Chestatee | 2025 State GA carried Chestatee with her three-point shot. The sophomore netted five triples as she ended with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
Maleah Harrison
Maleah Harrison
Maleah got to the rack at will as Chestatee could not stop dribble penetration at all. Harrison consistently would get to her right hand and attack with straight-line drives. When she was contained to the left side, she had no issue finishing with her off hand. In total, Harrison scored on eight drives, one BLOB, a steal and a transition layup finishing with a game-high 24 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. I loved how she was able to slip by the defense and finish with her scoop layups at a brisk pace.
