During the regular and post-seasons, there were several second-year student-athletes that played significant roles for their high school teams. This is a list of those super sophomores that I had the privilege to view this past year;

[player_tooltip player_id='465497' first='Marin' last='Adams']-This seasoned sophomore logged quality minutes at the point guard and swing guard positions as the Lady Cardinals reached the pinnacle of 4A State Champions. Adams, pictured above, can penetrate and score and is a mismatch nightmare for opposing teams. Next season she'll help lead her team to yet another post-season appearance.

[player_tooltip player_id='465534' first='Zoey' last='Bershers']-Zoey, in her first year at Farmington, played an important role as the leading rebounder for the Lady Cardinals. In 2024 she'll be more of a scoring threat. She has the size and strength to compete down low with anyone. Add outside scoring from 5'7" guard J'myra London and this squad might repeat their 2023 championship run!

[player_tooltip player_id='465495' first='Austyn' last='Oholendt']-Coming off the bench Austyn brought instant offense and solid defense for the Hornets. She has an excellent basketball IQ and the size and strength to overwhelm her opponent. Look for her to get a starting role in 2024 and help contribute to a potential 6A Central playoff spot.

[player_tooltip player_id='465511' first='Allannah' last='Orsby']-Allannah is another nightmare mismatch. She is very athletic and her versatility allows her to face the basket or post up in the paint against lesser opponents. Add 5"4" PG Eljanae Daniels and this duo could lead the Hurricane to a 6A Central postseason appearance.

[player_tooltip player_id='465515' first='Kinley' last='Mears']-Kinley was one of the leaders of this very young Lady Eagles squad that made it all the way to the 5A State Final. She is a shooter but also can dish off on the pick and roll. She'll play the quarterback role on the 2023-24 team. The ball will be in her hands on every offensive possession.

[player_tooltip player_id='465493' first='Sidni' last='Middleton']-Sidni is a swing guard that likes to penetrate the lane. Vilonia is loaded with underclassmen and Middleton is at the center of that group. She has the experience to carry the Lady Eagles back to the state tournament final and avenge last year's loss.

All of these young ladies played significant roles in 2023. As experienced juniors, they'll lead their schools for another two years in hopes to go deep in the playoffs. Next in this series of post-season articles will be the 2023 Super Sophomores-Smaller Schools.
