While it is a newer showcase, the event had several coaches show up and was run by former collegiate basketball players and coaches. The training section is run the way that a college practice is run. I cannot stress how important playing at game speed is, and the trainers stress this on top of being fundamentally sound. The training was upbeat yet held kids responsible for their effort and play. Highly recommend this to every young hooper.
Makenna has the height of a post player but the deep stroke of a shooting guard. She appears to be a combo guard capable of running the point. She has a very quick trigger on the deep ball. Dangerous off the bounce as well. Intriguing prospect for her unique size and skillset.
Julia is a high energy big that projects to be a rim protector. She stands all of 6’1 or 6’2. While she can come down on shots from time, she usually does a nice job of not breaking verticality. She also keeps the ball high on her moves. She runs the floor in transition better than most bigs and loves to dive for balls. She keeps a lot of plays alive with sheer determination.
Smart kid that does all of the little things to help a team win. She plays excellent off the ball defense and stretches the defense with high percentage catch and shoot marksmanship. She even showcased some ability to hit off the bounce. She is one of those kids that hustles non-stop and makes others better.
