There is balance and versatility in the Class: plenty of guard play, plenty of posts, and plenty of scoring potential. I will breakdown the top 10 players in the area that I have seen develop over the last couple of years. This group of talented young players are no doubt ready to make their mark on the Varsity level and will turn heads of fans and recruiters alike as they enter the High School scene in the State of Illinois.
Gracie Heckert: 5’8 Guard Beecher City HS Indiana Flight West
Gracie is a gifted combo guard that has the ability to score in multiple ways as well as take the lead as point guard. She is a dependable 3 point shooter and her strong physical frame helps her finish at the rim with consistency. Her court vision and basketball IQ are excellent and are two of her biggest assets.
Emily Konkel: 6’0 Guard Teutopolis HS Indiana Flight West
What sets Emily apart from the next player is her length…she is a very long guard/wing. She is reliable from mid range and in the lane, with a developing 3 point shot that is very promising. Ball handling and shooting at her size is an exception not the norm. Emily’s skill level as a guard is quite impressive. Her potential will draw plenty of interest on the recruiting trail as she hits the circuit next season with Indiana Flight West.
Addie Wright: 6’0 Post Oakwood HS Indiana Flight West
Addie is an athletically strong post. She runs the floor very well and is a plus rebounder/defender. Addie can use either hand to score inside and has range to 15 feet with a very soft touch. Her potential is very evident and has already piqued several recruiters interest heading into her first varsity season.
Trinity Tingley: 5’5 PG Paris HS Indiana Flight West
Trinity is the prototypical point guard. She is a leader on the floor, running the offense and setting the tone defensively. She is equally good spotting up with a jumper from the 3 point line or finishing in the lane. She excels at pushing the ball up the floor and leading the break. Her court IQ is a big plus for her team. Coaches will love her work ethic and competitive spirit.
Kendra Young: 5’11 Guard Paris HS Indiana Flight West
Kendra is a shooter. She is very confident and will pull the trigger when open and in her range…which is well beyond the 3 point line. Her near 6’0 frame makes her difficult matchup for many teams. She has developed a drive and slash portion to her game that will make things even more difficult for opponents. Recruiters will take notice with her combined length and shooting ability.
Alycia Triplett: 6’0 Post Charleston HS Indiana Flight West
Alycia is a Post player with loads of athletic ability. She is unmatched at her ability to run the floor and excels at rebounding, especially the offensive end. She has a very soft touch in and around the lane. Her game is just taking off and has already shown up on recruiters radar.
Kaylee Niebrugge: 5’9 Guard, Teutopolis HS Indiana Flight West
Kaylee is strongly built guard/wing who has the ability to play both inside and out. Her floor game is an asset as she frequently will make an impact in a variety of ways: as a defender, rebounder, scorer, and ball handler. Her versatility is a major plus helping her to be a threat to score at multiple levels.
Savannah Orgeron: 5’11 Post Mahomet HS Heart of Illinois
Savannah can play multiple positions going inside against other post players, as well as going outside to play on the perimeter. Her physical size, strength combined with her ball handling skills and shooting touch create matchup problems for teams. She has demonstrated a nice feel for the game utilizing her passing ability and exceptional court vision.
Rilee Riggs: 6’2 Center Mt Carmel HS Indiana Flight Blue
Rilee has excellent size and a frame. She has the ability to score in the lane with either hand displaying a soft touch. Her length and frame are a plus as she is capable of effecting the game on both ends of the floor with her rebounding and defense. As her skill level increases over the next few years, so should her stock.
Deming Hawkins: 5’8 Post Paris HS Indiana Flight West
Deming is small post player with a large heart. She has a motor that does not quit, enabling her to make plays that many others simply don’t or can’t. Over the last year she has progressed from a back to the basket post player to a more perimeter oriented player. This added flexibility makes her a valuable asset to her team. She is not only a playmaker, she is a smart playmaker.
